Heath Barkley, the internet is great, but it isn't infallible, the various lyrics attributed to tjis song list it as "bat," "bass," and "bad," depending on the site. I have listened to this for 60 plus years, and Bad is what I have always heard, and researching multiple sites, and just plain common language makes this the most logical, and likely word. Never heard of a Bat ( referring to Bat Masterson? ) or Bass ( Bass Reeves?) reference until I looked at U-tunes lyrics.

Same here. After I found the various lyrics I stumbled on an interview of Mr Robbins where he was asked to clarify what word he used. He never gave a definitive answer but he did say he could not use Merwin Hulbert because it was too cumbersome an he could not use “bad ass” because the record labels wouldn’t allow it. Now it leads me to believe he was thinking a Badass Merwin Hulbert. Since I have LOONNGG lusted after a short barrelled .44 Merwin Hulbert, I will be forever convinced he sad “bad”

Amazon. They're just Tandy  leather snaps but instead of the stem connector for leather, I use a cut down wood screw to attach to the wood

That “screw snap” is available at any boat shop or canvas shop as they are used to secure a sun top to the windshield frame or side of boats

    Well, dang it Jim !
Been wanting one of those for YEARS but alas, just not enough silver dollars left in the old coffee can.

I have a Pesersoli that I carried for years on horseback ( I am carrying it in my profile pic ) doing living history and even hunted with it but that Garrett is the closest to an original that has ever been made.

Sorry, but I’m not jumping through all the hoops to deal with the California paperwork and additional BS.

    So be it.

I know there are a lot of FFLs in the liberal areas that make it very hard on folks but the flip side is there many FFLs in the other half of the state that will do just as you mentioned in the post above “accept from a private party with a copy of drivers license” and I have in fact bought a few firearms here on this forum by that method. I was just curious because so many people believe the exaggeration about “ALL of California”. Yes, our government here IS communist, yes there are a boatload of idiots & nuts, BUT there is also a tremendous amount of conservatives here and OUR FFLs tend to work with people instead of against us. If you have had bad experiences trying to sell to someone in Kalifornia before then I don’t blame you for believing what you do.

Again, not trying cause you any grief, we here on the forum are all brothers & sisters. Good luck with your sale and that is one fine handgun at a very good price !
