So luckily I was not robbed.  I have a 900 foot long gravel driveway through the woods to my house.    There is a circular turnaround at my house plenty big enough for any box truck to use.

The driver evidently did not want to come up to the house so he faked the signature and left the box next to my driveway down at the road.

fedex does this all the time.  UPS, Amazon and the postal service have no problem coming to the house but fedex thinks it’s ok to leave packages on or near the driveway near the road.

we have had dog food from Chewy left by the road overnight as we did not know it was delivered and critters chewed into the box and bag and ate some of the dog food.  I had a case of shotgun shells, unfortunately in a box marked Remington Ammunition disappear after it was supposedly delivered and left by the road.  The fedex driver consistently leaves our packages down by the road. Only FedEx does this.

luckily the rifle was still down at the end of the driveway when I went down there.  The rifle is one of the new Ruger made Marlin 1894’s.  It was really nice when I got it. The action work done by Longhunter is amazing. Smooth as silk.  I would happily recommend his shop to anyone.

You need to call the local FedEx and get the driver's and manager's phone numbers. I called the local folks and read them the riot act after leaving a gun at our community job box five miles from my house after I had sat at home all day waiting for it. If I am not going to be home and I have a signature-required shipment, I call the driver and tell him where to leave the box and to sign for me. The manager also knows this for when my driver is on vacation.

  3. If someone was going to steal it, the whole thing would be gone. Porch pirates don’t take the time to open a box. They run up, grab, and dash. There are thousands of security videos showing this.

  4. Many years ago I was in a female owned and operated Ace hardware in Colorado. I turned beet red when I asked her if she had offset nipples. (They are an electrical fitting.) She saw my discomfort and started laughing, stating she did, and then showed me, the electrical fittings that is.

  5. I think OLG is correct. And SPP is in every store in town. LPP are not to be found except on rare occasions. LRP? As rare as four-leaf clovers in the Sonoran Desert.

Spotted an item I hanker for from an outfit called "Buffalos Wild West". Specifically I'm looking for a silk wild rag similar to that worn by Powers Boothe (Curly Bill) in Tombstone.

    http://www.buffaloswildwest.com/

The website is pretty rudimentary, and they claim to be a SASS affiliated merchant. They do have an Etsy store that thousands of reviews, BUT I have a suspicious nature I'm sad to admit.

Anyone here care to vouch for them?

    Thanks for any help given.

There have been scammers since the day Adam and Eve left Eden. You should always verify a merchant. Props to you for doing so before you send money.

    The Post office sucks!!

Mailed app at 10am Monday from Peoria AZ certified mail return receipt. 120 miles away - Tracking says it will be delivered today by 9pm.The only problem is there already closed for today.

Usually I send it overnight !!! So @#$$%%^^&

Well, for once in my life, I was faster than you! I bet I won't get to say that again!

  9. I think we also need to be mindful of what we post in forums. I often see members posting their contact information in threads. It doesn't take much detective work for a scammer to find that information and use it to contact the person or impersonate someone else. Scammers can make their phone numbers appear as someone else so I would bet that the same thing can be done with emails.

They almost got me on the same sale that Murphy92 was involved in. They contacted me via email and told me that he was not going to take the SG and that I could have it.  I was ready to jump but then noticed that the emails were dated the next day! They appeared to be coming from a Western Europe time zone. They wanted me to do direct wire transfer from my bank account. I didn't want to do that and started questioning them via email. They even sent me an email that came from the Real JB Sledge's email address. I thought it was him! I offered to send them a Money order but they wouldn't give me a Name, address, or contact phone number. So.... I bailed out. I reported it to the Wire Monitors.

Did you have your email in your profile or in an old post?

  11. I used to own a Miroku Winchester. They are high-quality rifles. They have a shorter stroke from the factory, about halfway between a Uberti factory stroke and a short stroke kit.

If you plan on playing in NCOWS and SASS, be aware that NCOWS doesn't allow the Miroku Winchesters because they are already shorter stroked than the originals.

  12. I know someone who used to work in Hollywood with some of the stars. They would have the star's pistol cocked and do things to cover that fact. He specifically talked about a movie with Burt Lancaster in which this was the case. Sometimes, the person would have a fringed-sleeved shirt/coat so that the fringe covered the hammer. It was all about going faster on camera.

Some actors practiced drawing in front of mirrors to see how "cool" a pose would look on camera. It's all for entertainment.

  13. There is a guy on Gunbroker that makes brass that accepts the power loads used in power actuated tools. The brass is reusable. I used 32 caliber round balls but you can also use regular heeled bullets. You can buy kits that have everything in it at Dixie Gunworks.

  14. If you start looking at who is anti-gun, the list gets long. Many will need to change how they shop, where they eat, where they watch movies, who they use for phone coverage, where they get healthcare, and on and on. A biggie is YUM Foods.

All of these companies are anti-gun in some manner.

From Tammy at Ruger support. See the Ruger email screenshot eight posts prior.

I would say Tammy misspoke. Many manufacturers outsource work, especially with the “just in time” manufacturing business model. If I had to guess, they outsourced some of the barrel manufacturing. The east plant may operate differently than the Prescott Plant. But this is interesting information. GFM really needs to finish their website as much of the Wordpress template is still present.
