  1. I was at a gun show in Lake Havasu two weekends ago. Factory ammo was $1 to $5 per round depending on the caliber/cartridge and folks were buying them. I saw piles of questionable ammo, reloads, partial boxes of ancient hunting ammo also offered. There is no way I would risk it for unknown ammo.
  2. Some of the local shops do not accept American Express due to the transaction fees being excessive.
  3. I recently bought the Midway branded National Metallic Rotary Case Tumbler. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1021666817?pid=825891 Pro: Huge volume. Built-in timer Rubber-lined drum Con: Almost too big. 50 cases get lost in it. It supposedly holds 1,000 .223 cases in it. I believe it. The cover is hard to get off because there is no way to find purchase with my hands. I feel a strap wrench would work well. I currently grasp it between my knees and twist the lid with both hands. It takes some work but it does come loose. The co
  4. I use a squirt of blue Dawn and a swish of the dishwasher booster powder that the previous homeowners left. It works great. I also use the SS pins with them. Makes stuff look like new.
  5. U-Haul and Lowes sell various Boxes. One will be sure to fit properly.
  6. Ruger in Prescott, AZ pays $12 an hour plus benefits. Unfortunately, the housing market here requires a wage three times that. My wife used to work there and applied again last month, interviewed, and got an offer for production work. Luckily, she was offered a desk job for $4 more on the hour with much better benefits at another company right after.
  7. Maybe it was one of the Mini-14s used by the A-Team. Those puppies could flip the bad guy's Jeeps over like they were acrobats!
  8. Czech weapons manufacturer and Heckler & Koch competitor CZ is planning the complete takeover of the world-famous US company Colt - including its Canadian subsidiary. For this purpose, after research by WELT AM SONNTAG, a declaration of intent was signed. A spokeswoman for CZ Ceská Zbrojovka confirmed the plan in principle to the newspaper. "We will inform you about major developments in due course," she said. CZ put the entry plans hidden online at the end of November - and didn't even mention the name Colt in the headline. Apparently there is still no agreement. In the industry, CZ i

  10. I would check with @Lone Spur Jake SASS #7728 . He works at High Country Guns in Prescott and may have some in stock. It's a nice drive up the hill.
  11. Be careful with the design changes. My wife used to work at Ruger here in Prescott and she surprised me with a Mini-14 one Christmas (1992-1993). I tried taking it prairie dog hunting and found out it wasn't able to hold a six-inch pattern at 25-yards. I still loved it. Decades later I was trying to see what I could do to make it more accurate and found this was a common trait on older Mini-14s and they made a design change to the barrel, if I remember correctly, adding more mass to the area by the chamber. This supposedly made it better. Since it was basically just a safe queen I had thought
  12. Unless you have one of each, it would either be a Lightning or a Thunderer. The real name is M1877 but one of the big Colt distributers decided that catchy names were better for sales. The Thunderer is .41 Colt. The Lightning is .38 Colt. If you can find one, the Rainmaker is in .32 Colt. I would recommend you don't use smokeless unless they are proofed for it. I have two Lightnings and one Thunderer, two of which are from the 1880s. I also have a Colt Frontier Six Shooter from 1902 and a Colt New Line in .38 Colt from the late 1870s. Have fun with the infection.
  13. I used to do the Lubersizer thing but after watching all the FC45 videos I now PC and use the Lee sizers. Much easier.
  14. Yes. Parts ordered in November took weeks to show up. I mailed a gun via USPS Priority three-day service and it sat in Phoenix for 16 days before it started moving again. UPS shipping from Midway came almost faster than me ordering it. Seriously, the UPS shipments would be here in a few days and before they're scheduled delivery. Gotta love the government, but hey, we can still send someone a letter for 51 cents and that is cheap when you think about it.
  15. You are absolutely correct. SASS and NCOWS are different in many ways and the same in many ways. Before plunging in, interested folks should fully read and understand the NCOWS Tally Book. Another quirk is no Buscadero holsters. NCOWS is not for everyone. http://ncows.com/library/pdf/2020NCOWSTallyBook.pdf
  16. I have multiple rifles and pistols. Some tricked out and some original. I used to shoot SASS and NCOWS every month.
  17. The Golden Days that you remember fondly are alive and well at NCOWS matches. Don't get me wrong as I love SASS but I also loved NCOWS. It is everything you miss about the old days of SASS. Rifle targets were up to 75 yards away. We had moving targets both side to side and moving away. Nothing is short-stoked. But, no fantasy guns are allowed either. No Ruger Bisleys, no Colt clones with octagon barrels, no Henry Big Boys, no gun carts unless you had a physical need for one. The unapproved list is long. I read so much of you mocking NCOWS and yet you lament the loss of something that sti
  18. The Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook designates this mold as using a gas check and casts at 264 grains.
  19. I have Rugers. If you have a high primer it will jam the cylinder as it comes around. At that point you can’t go forward and you can’t go back. I don’t recommend it.
  20. They don't allow backorders on primers for some reason. If they don't specifically say no back order, the "add to cart" doesn't function. And, the "Notify Me" has never been triggered through Midway.
  21. Did you actually buy some? I have triggers in ammoseek and primers are gone before the email is sent. I have tried several times and even though the website shows them you can't put them in the cart because the quantity desired isn't available.
