  1. Ok second idea. Put your leather heat shield on . Put your brass pin on the back of the spacer . This way the heat shield is catching the pin and not the front of the receiver.
  2. Well I'd say it would depend on how long your pin is. You'll need it long enough to stop the spacer from locking up the action but shirt enough to clear the leather. I think the short answer is trial and error.
  3. I made mine with 2 pins. The shorter of the 2 goes forward and keeps the spacer from locking up the action. The second longer pin is just for getting it out of the magazine tube.
