Wooden spoon? No. My mama kept one of those Bolo-bat paddles (you know, the ones that had a little red rubber ball on an elastic stapled to it) in the kitchen window & everybody who came into the yard knew she would apply as needed & everybody - kids, their parents - was ok with that. That's what I mean when I say I miss the America I grew up in.

Boxes & tissue paper. Doesn't get any better for cats. Great-grandcat Denver (it's all I can do not to call him Dexter) seemed to enjoy it. His granduncle Otis - not so much.

Last week I was blessed to spend a couple of days with family in Boston (a great city - a first for me) and attend Grandson #2's Senior concert for Berklee College of Music. He played 4 numbers with his chamber group and 4 with his jazz group, including original compositions in both - super great kids and fine musicians, all of them. It was magical. I think it's on UTube - not sure whether listed as Berklee or Peter Sumner, if you're so inclined. Sooooooooooo proud.
