I don't put too much stock in the bad news fortune cookies. Only the good ones since I found out my first girlfriend was cheating on me with a Chinaman. She said his name in the bedroom and I don't put up with that mess. Wong Ho is a funny name anyway.

Widder's bunkhouse boss caught him doing something he shouldn't have been doing and won't let him get on the Wire or even write an email. He's grounded until some time Monday. He wouldn't tell me what it was he got caught doing, but getting grounded might be better than going blind.

TW is antsy because he had a colonoscopy today and it nearly gave him a brain concussion.
His doctor is Dr. Smellfunkus, notable for his special technique and leaving lipstick marks on cheeks.
TW is his favorite patient.
Like I've said before........ ya just can't make this stuff up.

There's a whole big bunch of questions and what ifs on this one. I'd say too many for me to voice my opinion other than to say just from reading the OP it seems like the CLUB was trying to recruit a new shooter into SASS and kudos for that. One way to run a new prospective shooter off is to smack them upside the head with a bunch of rules (excluding safety rules. Smack them with those very hard and often). If I were being a rule Nazi I would start with, pistols started out staged but did the instructions say to restage them or did they give no restaging direction? If not, the default is for the pistols to go to leather before the next firearm is fired.

They came and taped for a week last year. The producers thought viewers would think everything was fake and unbelievable. Especially with all of the Widder sightings. They said it was tantamount to a Bigfoot sighting. Heck, I've even got PROOF of all of my exploits and they STILL didn't believe them.
I showed them the scab I keep in a jar in the kitchen I pulled off my butt from when I was abducted by those aliens a couple years back.
I showed them the jar I keep the tick in I pulled off of Bigfoot back in the early 2000s.
I even showed them a real-life invisible ghost I keep in another jar, and they still didn't believe me.
I told them I seen Widder shoot not 6 but 10 knockdowns in 1.3 seconds. That, they believed!
Some folks just ain't got no sense!

I contend that NO direction or instruction means exactly that; no - none - nada - zip - zilch.
And so by contrast if ANY direction or instruction is provided (no matter how vague or lacking) it is no longer NONE - and by the very WORDS in the convention makes the convention moot.
The stage convention says if NO starting position; it does not say IF the starting position is somewhat incomplete or IF the details are vague - then use the convention to fill out the details.
As Tyrel said so eloquently;

Sorry was at my daughters' practice. You would both be in the wrong to start the shooter in that position. This is the reason for the covenants. To keep everything level.
Any exception to the SASS default(covenants) only applies to the exception. NOT all of it.

Difference in wording and some of our conventions....
Stage instructions-
Starting position: Begin standing behind position 1 with one thumb on your nose.
This means- You are to stand at position 1 with 1 thumb on your nose. The rest of you must be at SASS default position because that is in our conventions. You may not have a thumb on your nose and be bent over double over your rifle.
Stage instructions-
Starting position: Begin standing behind position 1 at shooters' discretion with 1 thumb on your nose.
This means you are to stand behind position 1 with 1 thumb on your nose. The rest of your body may be other than SASS default position because of the specified "shooters' discretion".
This does not mean you can be touching gun(s) or ammo because those specific conventions weren't overridden by the wording.
So I have to partially disagree with Creeker.
