  1. I have a pair of 5 1/2 inch SS Vaqueros. My main match pistols. .45 Colt, but I shoot C .45 Spl. Transfer bars removed. Action job my Three Cut.
  2. Club top shooter is based on best five matches of the year total score. Top shooter is engraved on a plaque. Top three finishers in each category receive a certificate acknowledging the accomplishment. Certificates are also handed out for most clean matches for the year, Rookie of the year, etc. We also recognize those people who were top hands throughout the year. Some of them don't shoot, but they build targets, keep score, etc. The top hands usually get gift cards to thank them. Awards are handed out at a fall banquet.
  3. As a Gunfighter, my hands just aren't big enough to slip hammer.
  4. I am cocking the second gun while firing the first gun. I don't double cock. The reasoning for me is this is a fine motor skill. Meaning 3000 + occurrences to learn and maintain the skill. Also difficult to unlearn. If I encounter split pistols, I believe the possibility of double cocking your way into a Procedural or Safety violation is more probable.
  5. I prefer the stock Uberti brass carrier blocks. Only time I've had a problem with a carrier is after an out of battery. If the original carrier block was brass and has side areas machined out, it was done to reduce weight and friction. You don't mention caliber. But when I hear a about a problem jamming, first thing that comes to mind if it is a .38/.357 is cartridge overall length. Another possibility is a damaged or worn lifter. I would start by giving Jim a call. I've found him to be extremely helpful and customer service friendly. If he can talk you through a repair he will.
  6. I have a Codymatic. My main match rifle in .45 Colt (with a C.45 Spl lifter Installed). He uses a cut and weld instead of links. I've run it very hard for about 5 years. As with anything run hard, you will eventually break things. Never had a problem related to worksmanship. He has been there any time I've called with a question.
  7. I save mine. Take the brass and pistol and rifle primers to a scrap yard. ..Shotgun primers go in the trash. They actually pay a bit more for the spent primers, so I keep them separate. I think I made $80 last time I took them in.
  8. One other thought. check the firing pin OAL against a new firing pin. I had the very tip of a firing pin break off clean, causing light hits.
  9. Serious felons were proned out. One little trick. When dealing with drunks, and putting them through field sobriety tests, when I reached the point where I knew I had sufficient probable cause to arrest for Operating under the Influence, I would give them one last field sobriety test. I'd have them face away from me, interlace their fingers behind their head, thereby allowing me to move in quickly from behind and grab their hands to put them off balance if necessary and handcuff.
  10. I have three 87s converted by Lassiter. One Chiappa and two IACs. I plan on not being able to load the magazine. Lassiter told me that sometimes you can and sometimes you can't. I can load the mag in the Chiappa, but it is a pain in the back side and not something I would want to have to do on the clock. Not about the Cimarron. I'd give Lassiter a call and get his opinion.
  11. Congratulations and welcome Molassas Moose, Little Gunder and Kalamity Kevin.
  12. I've had this issue with Starline and the cases I've cut down. After talking with Starline, and others, I think there are several factors. First, I believe the .45 ACP resizing dies really over work the cases causing them to become brittle. Second, over crimping over works the brass. Third, I don't bell the cases so much. This allows me to reduce the crimp with the seating of the bullet, and the bullet doesn't jam down inside the case in the magazine tube. Starline suggested heating the cases up to about 450-475 degrees for 15 minutes. These changes seem to have helped, split case have been greatly reduced. Doesn't seem to happen at all any more unless it's cases I haven't heated up.
  13. The Johnson Creek Regulator's have been pretty successful recruiting new members. Last we we ran a ladies only match. The kicker was we also invited new lady shooters to try the sport in their own category. We supplied .22 pistols, .22 rifles and shotguns for the match. They won their share of awards just like the experienced shooters. We wound up with 8 new shooters at our club, including the father and brother of one of the new Buckerettes. By the way, we are running our Annie Oakley Match again in June.
  14. I found a .45 acp sizing die really works the brass. I switched to a .45 Colt sizing die. I also use a roll crimp. I never had much luck with Titegroup. Right now I'm using N320. I shoot 160 gr. RNFP from Scarlet out of both pistols and rifle.
  15. Yes, I had to obtain the latch that locks and unlocks the barrel from them a couple of months ago.
  16. Recently found an Uberti stock on Ebay. Might be worth taking a look.
  17. I work with antler and bone quite a bit. If make something where strength is important, I like to use a hardening agent. Minwax makes one the works fine. Antler will deteriorate with age and can be brittle. When drilling, I use a respirator. If I am adding something to the antler, (for example a screw knife), I like to set it in a good epoxy.
  18. Sequestered. Usually. Not always. If an attorney requests witnesses be sequestered, the judge will grant.
  19. It would be worth checking with Outlaw Gambler.
  20. Title says it. OK if the LOP has been shortened.
  21. I received an email tonight from someone identifying himself as Troy Smith. The email address was fromtrsmith511@gmail.com and a phone number of 707-247-5625. The email was sanitized with very little information, but obviously from an ad I posted here quite awhile ago. The sender wanted me to respond by phone, but responded by email. The return message had some issues. I googled the telephone number and one of the returns indicated the number was reported as being involved in a Zelle scam. Didn't receive a response once I asked where in Michigan they were located. Be careful out there.
  22. I saw an MSRP of $1279. The Limited Edition is $3499. But yes only holds 9 rounds of .44 Mag. Nice to see other companies putting out products, but at this point, I don't really see is as being a competitor for the 66s and 73s.
