If you don’t feel comfortable competing against some of the best shooters in the world join the Rangers and help make it happen, there’s plenty to do and Rattlesnake Slim and Hellbender are a couple of great pards to work for.

Thanks for the compliment, Yul, but I'm not the "Hell" you're thinking about ;)

The bullet is a 158 grain RNFP by Scarlett. I only use starting point of 5.0 grains of True Blue so pressure should not be a problem. Having said this I also have 125 grain truncated bullets from Missouri Bullet Company I am going to load a few dummy rounds and cycle through the action, later today.

I also use 158 grain RNFP bullets by Scarlett in my 1866 and have never had problems with them.  I load them with either 3.2 or 3.4 grain Trail Boss (yes, I still have some) to an overall length of 1.50.  I've also used 125 grain truncated cone bullets by Scarlett and others in the same gun to an OAL of around 1.45" with the same Trail Boss load, again with no problems.

  3. At our last monthly match I arrived at a loading table just as one of our most experienced, top shooters was opening the loading gate on one of his pistols. He drew my attention to it, showing me spent cartridges that were still in his cylinder from the previous stage. Smiling all the while, he told me, "That's a Stage DQ for the last stage." He self-reported it and that smile never left his face for the rest of the match!

  4. Look forward to seeing you guys!

  5. I bought a Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited a few years back that had a XS Sights adjustable rear ghost ring sight which I didn't care for so I removed it from the receiver and stored it away. I just came across it and am now offering it for sale. I've still got the single mounting screw and I will include it with the sight. Brownells has this listed for $58.50 + $7.95 (minimum shipping). I'm selling it for $45 shipped. SOLD PF TO FLACO JOE

  6. Registration is still open for Bayou Blast 2017, Up the Creek Gang's annual match, March 10 - 12. A link to get to the registration form is on our website.

  8. Oh well.......but wait, I was talking about sewing two shotgun loops together, not sewing a P/R loop onto a shotgun loop so it looks like this ruling does not apply to my situation, only to the original posted question, right?

  9. I had two loops on the right side of my canvas shotgun belt sewn together in the middle around a .38 special cartridge case. That formed a small, perfectly sized loop to keep a cartridge and also two additional small spaces on each side of that loop where I can keep two more cartridges. I had the same thing done to the next two loops. I would think this is SASS legal because the spaces between the sewn loops never were shotgun loops to begin with and the two additional cartridge spaces formed on both sides of the sewn area, although they used to be shotgun shell loops, are now compressed down to the size of a .38 cartridge and therefore are no longer shotgun loops. Is this shotgun belt modification SASS legal?
