I remember when I first read about End of Trail in an American Rifleman. I'm pretty sure they had all sorts of Old games like hatchet throwing. Are those sorts of crazy matches still around? Is that why he's looking for a throwing knife? If they are, what about the one where you split your bullet on an axe blade and try to hit 2 targets at once?

That's a good thought. Do they make a 200 caliber gun? If not, I wonder if anyone makes bullets that won't kick up dirt on a miss.

I started off with a model 94 trapper because my brother in law had one he let me borrow. One of the guys at the club had some 38 specials that he loaded to the exact perfect length where I could stuff 10 in the tube and not have any feeding issues. Other than the low magazine capacity on the trapper models, what's the knock on model 94's? I figured they weren't being used because they were designed for rifle calibers (along with the 76 if memory serves), while the 92 and 73 were the ones designed for pistol calibers. Did I miss something else?

Now there's one I can get behind. But do you pre-mix the screwdrivers, or just carry all the fixins separately? In all seriousness, I'm new at this (it's been less than a year) but on my very first trip, I made sure I had some oil and a multi tool. When I got a cart, I started loading it up with all kinds of things, but I ran out of room awful fast. I don't know where some of you guys find the room for all your stuff. I think I might carry too much ammo. I kind of have a phobia about running out of ammo, and I'm not just talking about shooting matches. Here's what I bring, but note I don't think I've ever needed any of it except the trash bag Large Trash bag Multi Tool Extra Ammo Extra glasses Extra ear muffs (both for visitors) Oil choke gauge (I don't know why, but it's nice to have and don't take up much room) A bandana because I get sweaty. In my truck, I always have a decent set of mechanics tools, an umbrella that is only used to loan to ladies (not intentional, but that's just how it's worked out), toilet paper that I've had for 15 years and never even opened up, a roll of paper towels just as old, a basic first aid kit, and a few basic medicines. I like this topic. I'm going to have to shove a few more things into my cart.

You can use a throwing knife to make up for a miss on the pistol targets, right? Not sure how it works, but I think you just pull it out and threaten to mess up the target by sticking it in there, and the RO just gives you credit for the hit.

Hopefully the final rule doesn't simply say "leaves the shooter's control". I doubt I'm the only one who has helped an elderly shooter out by taking their long guns to the ULT while they used both hands to negotiate the step down out of the stage. Unless that's covered under another rule somewhere.
