400 bullets, 17 grenades, a mine and a tripod
Ramblin Gambler replied to Subdeacon Joe's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
Not sure this sort of language is allowed here, but that is some serious badassery. -
While I can't attest to what it would do to a duck, we have some pressure assisted toilets here at work that I sure as heck wouldn't use to wash a cat (that the missus would miss). Might wanna look into one of those. I think they're even considered low flow, so you can flush down california ducks with them.

You kinda got me, but not really. I obviously meant after shooting and at least trying to eject the empties. Not right after loading live rounds.

What are bisley style hammers? I see from that link it's no longer a rule, and so maybe it doesn't matter anymore. That's just a new one on me. I have some bisley's and didn't realize the hammer was significantly different from my other revolvers other than being lower and wider than some (which I see on a lot of non bisley guns).

My sXs has external hammers. It should be legal for me to close it anytime I want as long as the hammers don't get cocked. It's about time us grannygun shooters get some sort of advantage!

400 bullets, 17 grenades, a mine and a tripod

I remember reading a similar story about American Indians (can't remember the tribe) serving in WW1. They would go out hunting at night and take german scalps. I've also heard stories from people who served alongside gurhkas, and I've got nothing but respect for them. I like how this guy got the 2nd highest honor available. I wonder what it takes to get the highest one. -
ADA toilets are terrible. To do your business properly, your knees need to be at least even with your hips if not higher. If some people will need the higher seat because of mobility issues, just get a really thick seat so there are options. A class 5 flush system is what makes the new toilets amazing, and they make those in standard heights. I know this is a few days old, but I have pretty strong anti-ADA toilet opinions. I mainly don't like that they make up 90% of what is available to buy when I go shopping for a new one.

I'm curious why you consider it 3 steps back. The only change anyone has mentioned was repealing open carry of long guns, a right that people were apparently afraid to exercise anyway. I'd call that a half step back at most. What else am I missing? I also feel like the court decision is going to be way more than 1 step forward, but that's still in progress, so we can talk about it another time.

I imagine that name gets mispronounced a lot. I had to read it twice, then slow down and read it a third time to even say it right in my head.

Thanks guys and gals, made up my mind

How much does that cost? I really wanna get rid of the crecent butt plates on my rifles. If I know a ballpark figure, it will help me know if I'm getting ripped off when I shop around. -
I see the fellas problem. My toilet woulda passed all that with no problem. I got me one of them that can pass a bucket of golf balls.

The media will, of course ignore what cox said. We can expect to see that first article for years to come with no mention of the fact that it was the opinion of one staffer, and that staffer was reprimanded a few days later.

Never heard that term before, had to google it. You referring to castrated roosters, or something else?
-
Reminds me, I was looking at holsters and saw one called a 'California Rig'. I expected it to either be a belt with no holsters, or holsters that were filled in and unusable.
-
capons? So anyway, sounds like you're saying they dared to exercise a right and it was taken away by people who had only left it alone up to that point because they didn't know it existed. Yeah, I dunno, I think they done right. What good is a right you're afraid to exercise?
-
Sounds like we were all right maybe? I certainly thought you were talking about a long gun law since that's what was in all the pictures. Also, I'm surprised carrying handguns openly was legal in cali till recently. So what exactly did open carry activists do to cause that to be banned?
-
Report I heard is that they didn't include any of the major storms because it would skew the results (like Rita, Ike, and Katrina). What I wanna know is, are they using raw numbers, or deaths per storm? Raw numbers would be just silly considering how many more storms have had girls names.
-
Not from california, so set me straight if I need it. But didn't those laws change because of the black panthers in 60's / 70's? Don't think what they did can be called open carry activism.
-
Good idea, but for the record, hurricane obama is technically already taken. The death toll is still being calculated.
-
I never played with a grenade, inert or otherwise. Can you put the pin back in after you pull it? For instance, if you wanna be absolutely sure there's no oomph left in it and you pull the pin and chuck it. Can you put it back together afterwards?

Does my heart good to see I'm not the only one supportive of these OC people. This isn't the first time I've disagreed with the NRA and I'm sure it won't be the last. They don't like to pick fights they're not 100% positive they can win. I try not to hold that against them. I'd also like to point out that the writer of the NRA article seems to either be misinformed or is deliberately mis-characterizing the OC activists. Well, either that or everything I'm hearing about how polite and considerate they're being is wrong. When they're getting permission for everything they do ahead of time and are prepared to leave as soon as they are asked to by the people in charge, that can hardly be called 'acting without thinking' or 'lack of manners'.

New western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West
Ramblin Gambler replied to Bad Jeemes Kelly's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
I saw it over the weekend. It was pretty good, but lower your expectations. Wife and I had maybe 3 or 4 times where we laughed good and hard. Once or twice it might have been because of the cutting up we were doing amongst ourselves before the movie started. (In particular, we were saying, as long as it's not like "You're Highness" ...) I tried to pay attention to period accuracy since they made such a big deal out of it being 1888. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't seem to mess that up too bad. I expected to see a bunch of Model 92's, but didn't see any. I don't know what year the webley's were, so no comment there. The only problem I saw with the guns was that it looked like the revolvers were rugers, based on how charlize was unloading hers without putting it at half cock. I don't know enough about fashion to know if any of that was accurate. All in all, more accuracy than I expected from a comedy. -
GOA Sends: Ambush in the House

Yeah, gotta love it when the website puts all your personal information into the web address instead of a cookie. Might wanna replace that take action link with this one. http://cqrcengage.com/gunowners/app/write-a-letter?4&engagementId=50107&ep -
Nice. Hootin begins at 9:30. Is that right after the spotters disagree on the # of misses for the first shooter?
