Actually no it’s not came from an official Navy social media post . And let’s just say even the Marines are roasting them for it .

I'm saying that it was photoshopped by someone before it was officially posted via social media not after the fact.

I have never seen anything other than an ACOG that had an integral mount.  That scope doesn't look like any ACOG I have ever seen. Found a picture of the scope it is a Trijicon VCOG. Still when you blow up the picture the scope appears to be attached to the receiver and it appears to also be mounted to the handguard rail as well.

That is what makes me so sad that someone within the Navy thought it was a good idea to photo shop the picture and then allow it to be posted it to the Navy's social media page.

I guarantee that somebodies derriere  is going to end up explaining this to the old man and they are going to regret doing this.

Obviously photo shopped, No scope rings plus other inaccuracies.

Some Photographers Mate is going to find out what its like to scrub bilges with a tooth brush when Cmdr Yaste tracks them down.  Commanding officers don't have a sense of humor when they are the subject matter. Especially, when the photo of them was released via official Navy channels.

  3. Photo is obviously photo shopped. Notice there are no scope rings among other obvious inconsistencies.

The part that makes me sad is that it was not caught before being released via official channels. Yes this photo was released via official channels just as it shown by the OP

Wonder how long it will take before Cmdr Yaste tracks down the idiot that thought it would be funny to do this. Ship COs are not known for their sense of humor. Especially at their expense.

What is a TC.. mold #?

Truncated cone. They are all I use in my 38 and 357. I like the 125 gr personally.

I have this light. 10,000 lumens. 12 volts. Bright as hell.

You push the button and you get this 10,000 lumen light. You push the button again, expecting it to go off, and it goes down to 5,000 lumens. You push the button again, hoping that it will now go off, and it becomes a strobe.

I guess I should consider myself lucky it only has those three light patterns, and doesn't also have different colored lights.

But if I turn the light on and I wish to turn it off I got to push the button three more times.

    Do people like that?

I have a little pocket flashlight. Well, actually I've got a couple of dozen of them. Because they are so neat, and so inexpensive, that I just keep buying them and sticking them here and there and everywhere. And when you push the button the light comes on and when you push the button again the light goes off.

    Boy that's nice.

I got an ad in my email this morning for a rechargeable pocket flashlight, that has a high beam and a low beam and a strobe. Why?

The other day I was trying to do something and I didn't want to disturb anybody, so I had my little pocket flashlight kept in my hand, and it was on but barely any light was creeping out through my fingers. Let me see what I was doing without disturbing anyone. The equivalent of turning this 500 lumen light into a 50 lumen light, without adding a separate switch.

And in all the years I've had that bright light, I have never felt a need for the strobe.

Logic says that the idiots that make flashlights put all these features in them because either the customers want them, or the idiots think the customers want them.

So do you want multi features in your flashlight? Or do you just want it to turn on and off and make light?

If you want to get rich. Sell people something they don’t need by making them think they can’t live without it.   ;)

Not sure, if it's what Warden Callaway already described, but the pictures below show the common design in Europe. You can remove each ring separately from the stove to adapt to the size of your conical pots and adjust how deep the pot is in the fire. And yes, when removing the lid the flames flare out of the stove. Alternatively, you can leave the lid and use every pot or pan you like. Usually, there is a container where's always hot water (like on the last picture).

I used such fire stoves a couple of times in mountain cottages.

That is a really nice stove.

12 ga single shot.  Bolt action, break action etc.  Anyone got anything they don't want/need in the safe?

If you're interested I have a line on a Mossberg 385 Bolt action 20 ga that is in good shape.

    My experience with real BP.

I have worked my way through most of 7000 rounds of commercial Black Dawg Cartridge Co. BP rounds. Both 38 and .357. It is my understanding they are lubed with SPG but do not use a Big Lube or similar style of bullet. I haven't pulled a bullet to verify this. Just going on what I have been told.

When fired from any pistol I can easily shoot 6 stages with ZERO issues.

When fired from a rifle with a 20" barrel I can shoot 6 stages with ZERO issues.

When fired from a rifle with a 24" barrel I have to run a wet patch through the barrel after each stage. Otherwise, I have issues with BP fouling becoming hard and causing accuracy issues. I can feel where the fouling gets hard while pulling a wet patch from breach to muzzle. It starts at about 21" from the breach end of the rifle.

As for your observations about Long range shooting and bullet lube, I have no personal experience, but it does make sense.

The only purpose of bullet lube when using smokeless bullets is to prevent gas cutting. It does this by sealing off the little imperfections between the bore and the bullet.

When shooting real BP the lube has the additional task of keeping the fouling from causing accuracy issues. If you run a wet patch down the barrel between shots or are using a blow tube, you are doing the same function a different way.

When it comes to barrel leading it has been my personal experience that it is mostly caused by bullets that are too small and too hard for a given barrel. This allows gas cutting which will cause barrel leading. The other cause is pushing lead bullets a velocities greater than what the bullet was designed for. Too high a velocity is seldom a problem in CAS.

A good lube that is properly selected based on the bullets velocity can make up for undersized bullets to some extent as can a bullet that is soft enough to obturate properly. However most cast lead lubed bullets that are sold to CAS shooters are way too hard for the velocities CAS shooters use and the lube is way too hard to make up for this shortcoming.

The reason for the bullets being hard is that they cast easier and do not pick up imperfections when sized using commercial equipment.

The reason for the lube being too hard is that it stands up better to bulk shipping especially in hot weather.

    YMMV
