Jack Elam and the Fly in Once Upon a Time in the West The crew smeared jam onto Jack Elam's face so he'd intentionally attract flies. However, only one fly landed on his face so they just went with it.

For those that didn't do the conversion 16 microns is 0.00062992 of an inch. 5 microns is 0.00019685 of an inch. For reference a typical sheet of paper is .004" and a typical human hair is .001" That's impressive.

Sure wish a couple of those had been activated for the Texas Panhandle fires this spring. The largest of the three fires burned over 900,000 acres in 72 hours. Had they deployed air tankers on day two maybe just maybe they could have prevented the worst of it.

You ever have one of those "I wonder why" moments?

My previous job if you googled the number for the local welfare office my work number was listed as an alternate. I would answer the phone Lockheed Martin Aerospace, CHina Lake CA and they would immediately go into a tirade about some missing benefit of check. I would wait till they were through and inform them that I was a Rocket Scientist and not a social worker. Some would apologize and ask for the correct number, others would just hang up. There were a few though, that I wanted so badly to say "If you had a job you'd know where your check was" Never did as I was afraid it would come back on me. -

Thanks My pistol was a Ruger Old Army with the nipples removed. Glenda's was a SS Uberti P Jr. with the cylinder zip tied to prevent it from rotating and securely tied in the holster with a leather strap. I love those boots too. In addition to the brown pair, I have 2 pair of black ones. One of the black pair needs some serious repair. I need to get off my butt and take them to a real cobbler to be rebuilt. -
Shortly after Truman Reservoir was finished, an enterprising banker opened a new bank in the tiny town of Tightwad Mo. (At the time the population of Tightwad was about 50.) Well having 'Bank of Tightwad" printed on your checks became popular and at one time the bank's deposits exceeded $20 Million dollars. Rather amazing considering that you could have bought the entire town for about a million dollars. Unfortunately, like a lot of things the poor economy finally caught up with them and the bank closed in 2018. Not too far from Tightwad there is the Town of Racket Mo and a little further away is the town Of Wisdom.
