  1. For CAS loads I did not change anything when going from lubed to coated bullets. As with any load approaching or near max you should start over and work back up to max whenever you change components.
  2. Don't even get me started.
  3. Given that you should already have your lead pot well ventilated to protect yourself from lead fumes there shouldn't be any issues melting down coated bullets.
  4. Could be that the do it your self folks are powder coating while the commercial buyers are using Hi-Tek to coat their bullets. I have studied both methods to see if it is something I want to start doing once I start casting my own 38-55 and 45-70 bullets. From what I have gleaned so far it does take a fair amount of practice and attention to detail to get either coating applied properly.
  5. BBC is good, The Christian Science monitor used to be excellent but they have switch from daily to weekly publication and are primarily web based although I believe you can still get a printed paper. Don't be fooled by the name, they are not a christian biased news source. The CS Monitor was founded in 1908 by Mary Baker Eddy because papers of that time were so biased. They have done a pretty good job of keeping that balance and will often have articles that contain viewpoints from both sides unfortunately is now only a weekly paper. I wrote a term paper in college about the bias in the news and figured that with a name like Christian Science it would be heavily biased. Turned out I was wrong. Learned a lot and got an A in the process.
  6. In all my travels I only was stationed in two states where figuring out if a stream could be fished, what tackle you could use, and what you could fish for was so confusing as to make me almost give up fishing. Those two were Cali and Washington. I remember the Washington regs used so many local names for locations that when I asked the game warden if I could fish a particular section of a stream he was as confused as I was.
  7. How to work up a trail boss load for any cartridge / bullet combination. Trail Boss Trail Boss can get erratic when the load is less than the calculated minimum. I always stay 2 or 3 tenths above the calculated minimum.
  8. ot if you were the one driving the amfib. That thing looked like it would be fun to handle in the water
  9. Mozart Pronunciation: MO-tsart Beethoven Pronunciation: BAY-toe-vuhn Bach Pronunciation: bahk
  10. Some of the best craftsmen in the country. Know of several houses with basement walls that were shifting / collapsing that they expertly repaired.
  11. Some of those guys should have used one of these.
  12. Well the commercial airlines may drop them but the President will likely be jetting around on one for many years to come. Trump may want to cancel the 747-800s currently being outfitted to replace the existing 747-200Bs that have been in service for almost 30 years. However, there is nothing else in currently manufactured in the US that would meet all the special requirements of the VC-25 program
  13. No different than opening a coffin to see what is inside. Let those men rest in eternal UNDISTURBED peace.
  14. All you have to do is leave it sitting with a dead battery in it. Every leaking battery I have seen in the last couple of years has been dead. Going to have to check into that warranty thing. Lots of kids toys that would qualify.
  15. If it was only 5 min of work you would have a point. However in CA and a few other states there is a patchwork of State, County and City laws that are not the easiest to navigate. I could not find a comprehensive list of firearm or ammunition restrictions below the state level. The CA DOJ does not keep a list of county or municipal firearm laws. CA law also states that the out of state FFL has to maintain additional records for firearm transfers to CA over and above what the feds require. Not sure how CA can enforce these requirements on non-residents but they have them non the less. Thrown in an FFL on the CA side that wants to be less than helpful and that 5 min can turn into hours really really fast. I have shipped firearms to CA twice through my FFL. Neither transaction was smooth. All the issues were from the CA end. My FFL has done several prior transaction with CA FFLs and he said it was hit or miss on how well the transaction goes. Because he is retired he doesn't mind spending the extra time it can take to get everything in order. BTW significantly less than 1/2 of that 10% are not potential customers. The current CA firearm restrictions are proof of that.
  16. If you ask really really nice Colorado Jackson might even deliver them. Cimarron Bullets does and excellent job maintaining a consistent coating his bullets. Stopped by his shop to pick up a special order and he gave me the 25 cent tour. His production process pretty much ensures a consistently repeatable high quality product.
  17. Never met any during my time in that I can recall. However my Grandsons got to meet Chuck Noris over in the Sandbox at different times. Both said he was very approachable and sincere. Spent a lot of quality off camera time with all the guys. Was stationed with several guys that were on the Enterprise during the filming of Top Gun. All of them to a man said that Tom Cruise was the biggest south end of a north bound donkey they had ever met. They also said his ego was so bad that he could empty out the ready room faster than a call to general quarters.
  18. Right you are.
