For books to be collectable they usually have to be first editions. Reprints are seldom valuable. If you have the first edition of a book AND it is in very good condition with no blemishes, nicks on the jacket, no dog eared pages, unbroken spine, ect. They can fetch a good price. Signed first editions are even more valuable.
