  1. Very Nice work.  Wanna build some for me. :P

Be sure to attach it to the wall with a small L bracket.  A small 2" L bracket is all it takes to keep it from falling over.

If setting it on concrete be sure to add some feet to keep the wood out of direct contact with a concrete floor.

These work great and will not rust or rot.

Far From it. Bar was located on Stock Island right off US 1. When I was stationed there, the commercial fishing boats were based at Stock Island. Not a good place to be after dark. Those sailors were tough and always looking for a way to entertain themselves.

Boca Chica Key is where the Naval Air Station is located. During WWII, the Navy had a Submarines based out of there as well. The sub pens were on the other side of US 1. The old sub pens were a good place to fish.

That was 40 years ago. and I haven't been back since.  Doubt I'd recognize the place.

Boca Chica? The little girl's mouth?

Yeah that sounds like a nice place to go get a friendly drink.

I started this thread because primers are a frequent topic of discussion on the Wire.  A change in ownership of production facilities should be of interest.  See also this article from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette.  Here is statement from the article:

A source in the retail side of the Vista universe said that Czechoslovak Group wants the ammunition making capacity for the war in Ukraine. A Reuters article on Monday reinforced that opinion. It said, "Czech-based CSG has seen its revenue and profits rise since Russia's invasion of Ukraine as demand for heavy military equipment and ammunition to ship to Ukraine soared."

The sky isn't falling and our ammo factories aren't being moved to Europe.  However, CSG could ship enough ammo to Ukraine to change the supply situation in the US.

Only if the government gives them an export license. Without it they can't ship anything firearms related including ammunition or ammunition components out of the US.

    See the ITAR regulations.

  5. Know nothing about maneuvering of big ships. However my stepson has a tournament ski boat that has a single prop inboard propulsion system with a single rudder behind the prop. Going forwards you have excellent maneuverability as the prop wash amplifies rudder inputs. In reverse it handles differently than an outboard or stern drive boat.

An inboard drive is impossible to back up in a straight line. And if you shift into reverse to help the boat slow down when approaching a dock it causes the bow to swing regardless of rudder position. The slower the boat is going the more pronounced the bow swing. The direction of the bow swing depends on if you have a right hand or left hand prop. (which way the prop turns in fwd). RH props swing the bow to starboard when in reverse.  LH props swing it to port.

  6. Back in the mid 80s I was stationed at NAS Key West Florida. All but two establishments in the Florida Keys stopped selling/serving alcohol at 0200. The two that didn't were the Municipal Airport Lounge and the Boca Chica Bar. No first had experience but I was told that the bar at the municipal airport would sell and serve alcohol 24 hours a day. However they had a policy of not serving patrons that were unruly and the bouncer would immediately escort you out.

The Boca Chica Bar aka the Boca Chica Knife and Gun Club, sold alcohol 23 hours a day. However for that 1 hour that they couldn't sell alcohol they would still serve it as long as you paid for it in advance. Bar had these special markers that you could redeem for a drink but you had to buy them during the 23 hours they could sell alcohol.

Was only in  that place once and that was three times too many. Was out with my shipmates  shortly after arriving in the Keys and we went there after closing down all the other bars. Scariest place I have ever been in. They buzzed you in the front door where you wound up in a short chain link hallway with a metal detector. If you passed, then a pair of really big and scary bouncers let you through another door and into the bar. You could feel the tension of that place press inwards on you. After getting in I immediately found the exit and got the hell out of there.  NEVER went back.

Soon found out that despite the metal detector most of the patrons were carrying a knife, a gun or both and were not afraid to use them.

On NCIS, whenever something did not seem right to Abby, she called it hinky.

So one episode she said something was hinky and apparently McGee had enough.

"Why do you keep saying that word? Hinky. It's not even a real word - it's a made up word!"

And she gives him that look, that says that he's the world's biggest idiot, and says, "All words are made up words McGee".

  8. Even if Vista Outdoors sells to a CZ company, the primer factories are going to stay right where they are.

With the current onerous import/export regulations the obummer administration put into place, primers are not going to suddenly be exported out of the US.

As @Pat Riot stated so eloquently "The Sky is Falling. The Sky is Falling."  NOT

  9. Quote

Of the 49 million homes in the U.S. with a firearm, only 7,492 homicide incidents were recorded in a home during 2022 (all methods).

And how many of these were criminals killed by the homeowner defending themselves?

I'll have to agree with that! I've got a few places around here that have prepared meals that are great! I just wondered about these delivery meals, I'm lazy!

You still have to cook them yourself. All they do is provide the ingredients and a fancy recipe card.  ;)

I doubt they swung the guns in response to the rolls.

More likely to avoid shipping water from the bow submarining.

My guess is that she was on a heading that kept the storm on her port beam.  Or maybe port quarter.

Finally found an answer as to how fast the turret could move in Azimuth. 4 degrees a second is not very fast.

    Quote

The guns could be elevated from −5 degrees to +45 degrees, moving at up to 12 degrees per second. The turrets could rotate about 300 degrees at about 4 degrees per second and could be fired back beyond the beam, sometimes called firing "over the shoulder".

Well, Dear Old Mum didn't TELL me how to cook them, so I was introduced to the learning curve. I didn't learn it, just that that it existed. The second pair of eggs were almost hard-boiled, but better than the first pair, so I made a kind of egg salad.

The bacon came out crispy and not burned, so I was pleased.

And my tea is Twinings English Breakfast. If it was good enough for the Queen, God Rest Her Royal Majesty's Soul, then it's good enough for me!

A comment about your breakfast egg photo:

Those yolks are so yellow, they look like eggs from a friend of ours that keeps chickens and feeds them healthy stuff. So much tastier than grocery store eggs.

    Now I'm hungry again!

Start buying eggs from Braums.  When compared to the ones from Brookshires or Walmart there is definitely a difference.
