  1. ah , there is that issue of the single trigger item , i have to defer to those that shoot them , i only ever have shot two triggers on my doubles , but i have been told since the mid 50s not to leave tension on my springs , and yet i have more than one friend that say leaving a magazine loaded for decades is not a problem , the loading and release are what they are designed to do , its the other activities that stress them , i did get a few 1911 mags that had been loaded for decades - when i used them they worked fine these dated to 1918 , i also have mags that were loaded for decades that worked just fine that dated to 1968 , i knew the people that i got them from and they were not the type to do anything but leave them ly , the rifle . handgun and shotgun springs i release - its how i was raised ,
  2. over the years my cart has gone thru a few transitions - same cart just different configurations , ive had holsters on / off / on and off , i like the convenience of the holsters on the outside , but they add bulk to my minimalist cart -so lately been putting them inside ....im still working on the right answer ,
  3. well ...........ive had good luck with that for over 2o years of applications now , that said , i get what your hinting at and im hoping i didnt just jinx my luck , and again that said , ive had plenty of issues with the electronic chit over the last 25+ years as well ,
  4. ive always wondered if these were something i might warm to , today at the gunshow i looked at one closely - $600 seemed a bit stiff but it looked a good quality shotgun , still not convinced to make the plunge tho .
  5. i wont say i dont like the on line versions - i do , but there is something deliberate about printing off the applications and sending them with a check , sometimes i like the old ways of doing things , i add to my paper calendar and give my wife the dates to plan around , ill not stop doing that for now but hope that these new fangled ways bring in new younger shooters to keep this going ,
  6. was at a gunshow today - there was powder and primers and brass - didnt see any bullets , but the prices had my pacemaker working overtime
  7. some things just arent right , our tax money is being doled out in so many ways that i doubt that most in government even have any grip on it , sad but its always about our money going to other people in the end ,
  8. i know all my canadian friend dream of it too , but ill add my best wishes in his departure if he makes it real soon ,
  9. adding my prayers and looking forward to his return here soon ,
  10. yup - all the oldies that scared us as kids
  11. hmmmm , i knew my cousins were gearing up for something just forgot it was coming so soon , happy st pats day to all , pass me a guiness
  12. if that kid said that to me id accept it , as it is om willing t live by it and remain hopeful of a better outcome ................. in spite of what i said above , im an optimist and yes i always look for that brighter side
  13. thats nearly as big as the blueberry muffin i had this morning ....amazin
  14. ill go with the divine intervention - he had greater things ahead of him than those youthful dreams - and she was a smart lady , unfortunately their child met a later fate ....but in comfort of the WH not a conestoga wagon , tid bit - one of the things my mother would use when she was trying to advance enthusiasm for the evenings fair to my siblings and i , my mother was a terrible cook , she could burn water and none of us were fooled by that bit of word twisting , we knew we were going to bed hungry or sick ,
  15. great find , dont count on finding anymore tho ,
  16. millions reinforced that putin is a dictator in free election hoax , kinda like some of ours lately i think , but we shall see , ive not given up on our system just yet , but i sure dont want puten/biden back this time ,
  17. well , for a number of years i was able to buy ammo at a discount and i did - gave it as a gift to my kids for christmas , one of them thanked me and shot his all up , the other thanked me and stockpiled hers .....she is sitting on a goldmine at todays prices but ....then she wouldn't have anything to shoot , im talking lots of 9mm , 223 , 762 , and in his cae 45acp , i wish my parents would have done that for me but then we all wish better for our next generations and back in the 50s my folks thought ammo was no issue ....i shot my share in the 60s on my own dime as well ,
  18. i just found 100 cases of NOS starline locally , sealed bag , im set ..............got well over 3000 rounds now in stock all - but 100 loaded , time to start shootin some , glad spring is coming , oh except that snow is predicted here this week , it is still march and we get snow into may on a bad year , my first year here we got it mid may , later we got it n memorial day , im not keen on it but we are in a major draught here - folks south on the mississippi need not worry this year we arent sending you anything , ice is almost off the river this week , flow is almost nonexistent at the dam a few blocks from my door , yall stay safe down south
  19. if it seems to good - it most likely isnt
  20. your not too particular - its what most of us use in leather but yes , it will be an investment so pick wisely , i started out with galco leather and still shoot with that mostly , i have a set of elpasso sadlery as well , i shoot both a strong side/cross draw as well as double strong side depending on my mood , ive been at this over 20 years and have what i wanted , all that said there will be a plethora of recommendations coming to this post , there are great mfgrs out there like mernickle and a lot of custom guys that will make to order at all of the ranges i shoot at , i have two leather folks around here that i go to as they do as i ask , its a really personal thing in the end , sounds like you know where you want to start , - you can get started on low end with tripple K leather if thats where you want to get started but they may not stand up past a few years use , the big thing here is to get started and evolve into what you want , you can find used leather at gunshows , gunclub flea markets and LGSs just find something to get you by till you know what you want , the bottom line is knowing what you like and what works for you , if you already know invest - its gonna be an investment just like your guns were ,
  21. this was my first thought as well , but even if you dont go with snap caps relieve the spring tension when stored , they are a center fire item it wont hurt them to fire on an empty chamber to relieve the tension on the springs .....i do it all the time , never had an issue , i dont like leaving disimilar metals in my chabers during storage , but then thats me - do as you see fit , but take the tension off those springs to extend the life - my shotgun is over 20 years old and ive had almost no issues [save for a cleaning issue ] all original springs and such ,
  22. i generally look at the sky out the window and open the door to decide what coat to wear , im sorta old fashioned that way , my wife is the one here that tells me whats predicted for the next day - most times its almost right ,
