  1. Slidelle Leadbetter.
  2. I "think" the 32 Colts were made with heel type bullets. Maybe first used in Colt conversion cap guns. The bullets were outside liberated. Case and bullet same diameter. The 32 S&W has the more modern bullet on inside of case so case is larger diameter than 32 Colt by a little bit.
  3. Part of a Laurel and Hardy movie. Just the pie in the face part.
  4. Yes, the magazine tube is pretty fragile and almost impossible to find replacement parts. I was fortunate that all of the one on mine was there. I can't remember what repairs I made but it's complicated to take apart and put back together. I had to open the cartridge slot slightly to let fatter 32S&W to pass.
  5. A friend got a hollow base mold from somewhere. He asked me to cast some up for him. I don't think he had the equipment to cast. Anyway, I wouldn't do it to make a living. Slow and tedious. Rapine 45 mold.
  6. Every old shotgun is different. I have a first year Winchester 1887 that is bored so large, it looks to be a 10 gauge. Then I had an old European double that was 12 gauge but proof marks said 14 gauge. It hade very tight bores. Found out, they had so many 14 gauge barrels, they just chambered them in 12 to use them up.
  7. I went from fiber wad to plastic cup.
  8. We have all but the Producers on DVD. There was a serious movie Mel Brooks directed that he refused to get credit for because he felt if he did, people would come and expect a comedy and be disappointed.
  9. It was another great movie that struggled to get made. No studio wanted to make it in black and white. Gag opon gag. We have to watch it at least once a year. Note, all principal actors are now dead. Mel Brooks is alive at 95. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072431/?ref_=ext_shr
  10. I had a similar journey with 1891 in 32 Colt. It also had the rimfire firing pin installed. I rechambered it to 32 S&W - a more practical cartridge.
  11. You have it your way, I'll have it my way. 😊
  12. Finders keepers, loosers weepers. You zigged when you should have zagged. Bet my bottom dollar. Not my cup of tea. Beats anything I've helt, felt, or smellt. Elevator music. Can't beat that, even with a stick. Harder said than done. Don't let your meat loaf. Not even Superman can come arunning. Rub salt in your wound. Slap a hot iron on it. That's just ducky. Cut from same bolt of cloth. We found it in the last place we looked. Chump change.
  13. Story years ago. Old batchelor lived alone. His sons found him dead and very decomposed. The sheriff gave them permission to carry the couch out with remains and put on brush fire and burn it. That's the story I was told.
  14. We got 8/10" of much needed rain night before last. Wind has been driving us crazy. Not too bad today. Mary and I often take the road less traveled for several reasons. One, we watch for hawks and eagles. On our latest outing, I noted a lot of plastic bags hanging in trees. Looking to the east ridge line a half mile away on our farm is what looks like 2 bags. I've often found the remains of those foil party balloons on the farm. Likely more I don’t find.
  15. I have a number 3 American in 44WCF. It's only known black powder. Note, this was it's first outing. I shot matches with it with no problems or extra maintenance.
  16. An excellent tutorial on taking a Remington 1889 hammer double apart. Other doubles would be similar. The only thing different I'd do is use a brass punch through the water table to loosen the trigger plate.
  17. Got a pair with extra 32WCF cylinders.
  18. P.S. The single screw holding the forend scales. This is a first year production. A few things different as years went on.
  19. Paid $500 for this wall hanger 10 year ago. Bent barrel. Need action work to correct for wear and rair style extract missing. I did a lot of work on it but works now. All 1887s were black powder. Thats why Winchester introduced the 1901 as a smokeless replacement.
