  1. There are SAAMI specs for 38-55, but unfortunately every manufacturer doesn't follow them. Some make barrels for .377 bullets and some for ..379. Some cut chambers for .377 bullets but barrels for .379, making accuracy a bit of a problem. I reamed out my Buffalo Classic and now it shoots great. Slug your bore and chamber cast your chamber to know what you really have and it helps.
  2. I made some for my cart as my wife was dumping her pistols in the guncart and scratching up the guns.
  3. You cannot make 30-30 into 38-55 by just using a die, you have to fire form it as dies don't make anything bigger. It usually works fine as it is just a bit shorter then the longer 38-55 brass, do it all the time in my re-barrelled Winchester 94 and my 38-55 Buffalo Classics.
  4. According the the article entering the country is a Misdemeanor. I have no idea.
  5. I'm glad you decided to accept California. Too many people make an exception when it comes to selling us legal guns, like this one.
  6. Abilene: I did, just doing stuff for locals and friends now.
  7. Why don't you buy the one in the pic? Just don't fill up all the loops.
  8. Remove the drift pin holding the safety pin? in place. Take out the safety pin, turn it 180 degrees and mark it where the drift pin hole is. Then file a notch in the the safety pin so that when reinstalled the drift pin will hold it in place. Now the firing pin is locked in place. And it is reversible to return it to it's original configuration. Worked for me. Just be judicious in filing the safety pin to make sure it is held up as high as possible.
  9. I always liked to carry a full size gun off duty way back when I was a Deputy. Like you said, it doesn't matter that much if the grip is longer so why not? I felt better with more grip in my hand, a bit more control of the gun.
  10. I am planning on going to CVC this Saturday, and I can bring it with me.
  11. I have one. Maybe you can talk me out of it. I have a 38-55 Buff Classic I prefer, don't really need both.
  12. How do you know what the percentage is? Did you have it tested by a salvage yard or something?
  13. Thanks folks, I learned two things today. One, The teacher is right, heat CAN affect measurements on a micrometer. Two, it won't matter for the use I and my son will be using it for so he really needs to moderate his teaching a bit, IMHO.
  14. I'm the opposite, usually whatever I'm measuring I hold in my left hand, mostly motorcycle parts of some kind. If the piece in on my lathe I might use two hands to measure. Never worried about body heat.
