  1. I like this idea for starters also. Maybe just drop of any oil on firing pins for a quick try. You might be surprised.
  2. Interesting story here: Our store's major cowboy gun dealer at time was Cimarron so we ordered '73s from them and usually had them sent directly to Cody. We then sold them as "race ready" for customers. Some Cody sent on to customer and never came back to us. Others we often sold to Joe then he resold them. When Miss Ann (my late wife) passed away Donald (Cody) and his wife Linda flew down for funeral. There Cody and Briscoe (Joe) met face-to-face and struck up more of a one-on-one "partnership" so no middle man was involved. We were all friends so it worked best for all. There are a number of shooters that still mention to me how they got their Codymatic from me. BTW, the Briscoes are fine, traveling a lot, not tent vending any more nor shooting much. They were at EOT passing thru this year. I do not live far from them so can go visit easily.
  3. I have owned and when in firearms business, sold many Codymatics for close to 10 years. Even had several Cody designated as The Billy Boots Model (shortened 24" to 19", rolled crown, and more of Cody's tricks). Great rifles. But, as Stan mentioned stroke is not as short as many of the newer "drop-in" (not cut/weld) 73s now available. Codymatics always impressed me as to how smooth they ran. IMO when one goes to the newer short strokes, they usually give up some smoothness and gain a bit more resistance (effort inn throw) for the shorter lever throw achieved.
  4. me too. Been to a few of his Outdoor Channel gatherings when in Vegas. He was glad to have someone there to represent his show where most there were for hunting shows. We, Handlebar Doc, Longhunter, Kirkpartick Kid &/or Briso were often in town for SASS convention and/or SHOT show so a few cowboys in costume and SHOOT magazine staff was welcome site for The Cowboy show's hosts., Flash or Tequila.
  5. He did a fine job hosting but sure enough good Elvis impersonator.
  6. Good competitor, entertainer, and just fun to be around. As I remember he was one of the entertainers at Judge and Kate's wedding. As was Dusty Rogers and band. Miss seeing Flash.
  7. Cleburne your closest, 55 minutes. Bar-3 about 2h 15min, Albany 95 min, 10horns 80 min
  8. Very nice. Handy and simple fix to a welcomed cart attachment.
  9. I agree with all, IF any difference it is very minimal for our game. If the slightest increase in groups shot bothers you mentally, go with what leaves less "doubt" in your shooting. Personally, I would go with KIS method that is a Non Stop standard. Example: your wife needs 1.45" for carbine then load that for all, including revolvers. Just Keep It Simple in loading. I set the OAL seating for 105 then do not change seater for 125, 135, or 147. All stays same in primer, charge, and seater set, KIS. Groups and velocity (which is checked) are tests that make for no mental hesitance. I will sometimes separate loads to headstamp because often one feeds more flawless over another.
  10. I took Lawman and Too Tall's advice and stayed out of this bar this year. However I did take a pic of the good looking cowgirl out front.
  11. Deep thought as to whether it time for one more Old Overholt.
  12. Harley is only one not so "glassy eyed". Glad all Sassy and I had to do was walk (stumble) back to room. Unfortunately Four Deuces was just before getting to our room. We may have stayed to long. All Sassy's fault.
  13. yep. good job. Pre-match Q/A for PMs covered it well.
  14. I'm surprised you even made it on the right highway out of Tombstone. Not good to stay to long in Kate's watching Harley. Don't ask me how i know.
  15. When I first read "At Ready" in Posse Marshall info I had to ask for clarification since around our area it often means gun in hand, or hands (if stated in plural). I was informed that it was in regards to body position and hands not torching guns. I will now assume that at other matches unless there is addition to wording such as "At Ready, gun in hand or hands", or "At ready, hand or hands touching gun flat on table", As mentioned, I also think the command is to be over-ride of SASS default. I certainly favor this in stage writing and appreciated it at EOT. TT, GAP is fun, maybe more so for us shorter folks. IMO, if stated "in hand" then that means one hand could be on shells if stating with shotgun. If flat on table is not mentioned then I assume long gun can be to shoulder.
  16. For your reading entertainment and additional confusion.

End of Trail 2024 Stage Conventions.pdf Posse Marshal Stage Questions with Response 2024.docx

  17. SB, Are you referring to EOT Stage Conventions per Posse Marshall sheets? I find the long gun flat on table mentioned in #22 but IMO it is referring to when starting with long gun or revolvers. However in Stage 6 and 11 because of board it was specified in walk thru that rifle was flat and not on board. Interpretation of shotgun safely seemed to have "drifted" on Stage six.
  18. Honestly, although my posse was instructed by myself and Deputy, Half-a-hand Henri, to stage long guns flat and not leaning on red board, I do believe the intent (oops there's that word) was for the starting long gun (rifle) to be flat. Shotgun staged safely could have been interpreted as across board as it was not the starting long gun. For stage six there was caution given to our shooters as to angle of shogun if staged on position two's short table.
  19. Reminds me of 1976 IHMSA Internationals, just missing the chickens
  20. Is that on your confirmation? You may have beat Hells Comin. bb who be stirring up "mayhem on the wire".
  21. And Sassy and I will be ready, God willing.\ Great EOT.
