Ah, I need to update my profile name then as my sass name is Jack-Knife and I wasn't at Bordertown unfortunately.  I was able to pickup a local Win. '97 pump though and now I'm on the search for a used gun cart else I'll make my own.  Hope you're doing well!

Good evening , so , the 97' you bought . Is the barrel cut down , is it tuned and smooth to operate ? Buy a used running /joggers 3 wheel cart , use your imagine , a couple cross bars , cut out a couple of 1x6's for the butt stocks , storage box for your ammo and things . Or a hand truck , Splitthumb

  2. Still looking for an 1897 Winchester; will consider clones as well. Thanks,
  3. Thanks ya'll! Starting out fresh with so many options; appreciate all the feedback!
  4. Howdy all - Getting my gear together and considering buying a Uberti Cattleman El Patron to go with my ruger new vaquero instead of having 2 matching vaqueros. Got into SASS due to the love of historic firearms (have an 1873 lever) and wondering if there are any real disadvantages to mixed 6 guns other than the obvious manual of arms. Both would be 5.5 inches 357 magnum. Holsters are made for vaqueros but I think the form factor is similar enough. Appreciate the advice.
  5. I have bought a half a dozen 97's from Lock Stock & Barrels , out of Simi Valley , I buy them  off of gunbroker . You should buy from a California FFL , it is a real problem to sell a gun to you with all the paper work . Have you tried to buy a 97' from any of the shooteres at your club or shoots ? I would not have a problem face to face , because I have sold to shooters in Ca. at different shoots when I've traveled through in the spring heading back to ID. . Splitthumb

I have not.  I went to a match last weekend, but folks in that group weren't as sociable.  The group I'll be joining meets in a couple of weeks and I'll inquire with them then...just wanted to be able to shoot a match ready to go.  If you change your mind my gun guy in the Bay Area accepts shipments, but yes ideally it'd be great to try out first. Thanks!

I am coming close to getting our home down to the insulation ,then drywall ,paint , then cabinets . We (wife & I ) are leaving for AZ> for the winter , Tombstone for the sate shoot between 10/21 -23 /19' . If you still haven't found a 97' , I will consider selling you a takedown model . I just do not have time to super tune one for you right now . Splitthumb

  6. Joined SASS this week, alias pending approval. Need two six shooters and prefer 5.5 inch stainless Vaqueros in 357. Located in California and have FFL lined up. Thanks!
  7. Howdy.  Picked up my 1873, have a new vaquero in jail and another on the way in 3 weeks.  Would love to see some picks of the 1897 once you're done....would consider adding it to my final vaquero order so that I have just 1 DROS.  I'm Jack Knife Jakob now.  Cheers,

  8. Howdy. Starting to acquire firearms for SASS and trying to locate a domestic model 1897 shotgun or import that's been slicked up. Budget is a concern though if theres a takedown floating around I might have to splurge. Thanks,
