  1. I must be missing something..... Plinker had a pair for sale, but they are sold, are those the ones you are referring to?
  2. Looking for a pair of revolvers in 44-40. Any safe queens looking for a new home?
  3. Sold a shotgun, shipping to another state. I know I have to ship to an FFL. My question is who us cheaper, USPS, Ups, Fed-Ex?
  4. I have a set of Lee dies, they work fine.
  5. I like Red Dot, 7/8 oz shot, claybuster wads. cost is about 4.50/box (not counting my time) so yea, I save a few $$$$ probably 18-20/month. not a huge deal, but in 2-3 years pays for a gun! plus, I get the satisfaction of loading my own ammo.
  6. I certainly lose more than I split. I've been loading 44-40 in smokeless and BP for 3 years or so. I bought 500 new Starline, probably loaded them 3-5 times each. no splits. I noticed that my brass box was getting low, so I ordered another 500 rounds last week. I mostly load 38sp, I have a variety of cases, about 10% nickel. I find way more split nickel cases than I do brass cases. I have about 2500 cases, I've probably loaded them on average 10 times each. I have noticed over the past couple of months that I've had a few more split cases, so may be getting to the end of that batch of brass' life. I have another 2500 ready to go!
  7. I was bit worse by bedbugs down in Saltillo! hope all is well. Wear the shirt to the next match!!!!
  8. Smith makes dandy one. a tad on the spendy side. I found one here on the wire for my Marlin 45-70 for about $100. http://www.buffaloarms.com/smith_barrel_sights_pr-4077.aspx
  9. Not exactly HSTN, but the Plum Creek club shoots 1st Saturday, near Lockhart. Texas Riviera Pistoleros shoots 2nd Saturday, near George West (Between San Antonio & Corpus) If you come for the match, I'll pay your entry, and feed you after! THSS shoots in Columbus 3rd Sunday, I think.
  10. 33 at my house in S Texas this morning. I guess I cant complain! I too have some loading to catch up on, loaded 44-40 & 45 Schoefield with 777 yesterday, will lad 12g 777 maybe tonite. then some 45-70, then work on 38sp. I load all throughout the year. We shoot year-round, although in the summertime it does get HOT.
  11. I had sent an email to club a couple of weeks ago, asking a question about Trailhead 2017, they said they were having a board meeting in mid December to get details ironed out, so I'm guessing will see something soon. I'm looking forward to going!

at the state matches I've been to I've never heard that the spotters, Loading/unloading table officers, expediters or scorekeeper had to be RO trained. Heck at most larger matches in many cases a non-shooting spouse keeps score for the posse. I would agree that TOs/posse marshals etc should be RO I & II at a state level or above match. Not necessarily that it makes them a better TO, but it would generally indicate that they have more experience. I'm thankful top those who are willing to grab the timer at large matches. its a big responsibility. Nobody wants to DQ somebody, even if the shooter clearly earned the penalty.

refreshers are nice, but not necessary, especially at a monthly match. at state or higher, it would be a good idea. more importantly, is having a flow chart handy, with rules. then you don't have to "think" you can get the card and figure it out. Everyt shooter ought to take the classes whenever they have an opportunity. I hope to take refresher this spring.
  14. If anybody has actual knowledge on how this could be made to happen, maybe let Misty know. I for one do not have enough computer skills to suggest a fix.
  15. tempting! I may have to look at that for one of mine!
  16. check out these guys for 45 ACP. I shoot 4-6 WB matches a year, so really did not want to start reloading another caliber. found these, and they have worked fine. Zero failures in my Remington R1 1911. https://goodtogoammo.com/product/45-acp-230-gr-red-viper/
  17. Misty Moonshine emailed me back, will look into it. She too does not know why we cant post direct, has heard different reasons. she is going to get back to us, but will probably be after the first of the year.
  18. I sent Misty a email. asking why. Looking forward to her reply.
  19. I wish we could post direct. I've tried the photo bucket route, no joy. I can post pictures direct to Facebook, craigslist, emails etc, why not direct to this forum? I've heard it takes up too much bandwidth....whatever that is..... but I don't really know. Seems like if we can send a man to the moon we ought to be able to fix this. If its a question of $$$$, I bet most of us would pony up a few bucks a year to pay for the privilege. What say you SASS?
  20. Godspeed John Glenn. thank you for your service to our country. When I was a kid I lived in Central Florida. when NASA had a launch, we would go outside to watch.
  21. Slippery little boogers. I tried some in 38 sp, they work fine, but hard to grab with my big ole fat fingers. I've tried wearing fingertip gloves, can't stand them. Same with any sort of rubber glove. I like them SPG lubed bullets from Ringers Bullets!
