Yes, I know what makes the snow and have done so myself a few times. But that’s not the ponderance of the moment. With a week of snow on the ground, every spot of yellow snow still shines. On Jack’s walks,, he stops at each spot for a moment. Why do some spots warrant a minor sniff and move one, some a deeper inhale, a few he buries his face in ecstasy, and he adds his own yellow to about half. What does he glean from yellow snow to elicit such diverse reactions?

There’s a lot of truth to that line. I’ll be noodling on it today.

Springfield hellion verses keltech or IWI
Charlie Harley, #14153 replied to Trigger Mike's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
Agreed. I haven’t used this particular gun, but the KelTek’s I’ve owned were entirely adequate for low cost plinking and fun. If a KelTec was all you could afford to buy, then it’s better than nothing. But it would not be my SHTF gun if at all possible. -
Favorite “# 2“? Anything that doesn’t leave a skid mark.

In the United States, it seems that we habitually walk on the right side of a hallway when there is two-way foot traffic. If two people are heading towards each they normally defer to the right. Do they defer to the left in the United Kingdom? A very Alpo-esque question but the thought crossed my mind while transiting ATL this morning.

Starting the car and idling it are what the machine is designed to do. No harm there as long as the driver accounts for the exhaust fumes. Had an acquaintance who remote started her car not knowing her husband had parked it in the garage. Lots of stinkiness but nobody was hurt. Could have been much worse.

Except for the bowl games which constitute the playoffs, everything else is becoming a glorified scrimmage among second tier players. College football is losing me. -
Who doesn't like bacon!
Charlie Harley, #14153 replied to Father Kit Cool Gun Garth's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
I agree that too much of a good thing can be bad. I just haven’t found where the line is for “too much bacon”. -
I think the Marlin 94 in 357/44mag were some of the finest rifles ever made. (…along with the 39a, 336, and 1895. I have at least one of each, all pre-safety.) Here’s to hoping that Ruger can restore the Marlin name. I look forward to hearing a test report.

Contact your local woodworking club to see if they’ll put you in touch with a member who can do what you want. -
Browning. Colt. Thompson. Garand. Ruger. Barrett. Glock. That’s some heady company right there. Men whose inventions bore their names, changed the face of firearms, and live on way past their deaths. Yes, I know Ronnie Barrett is still alive, but he’s worthy of being in that group.

Trenton, History, and Freedom

Interesting. I’d always attributed that quote to Winston Churchill. I’m more learned now than five minutes ago. -
Check with the safety officer and your squad mates. Then be prepared for a lot of questions and curiosity from onlookers. I shot a few rounds of skeet with an antique s/s and some mild BP loads. Everybody had a good time and a few even shot a target or two. And as mentioned, dramatically increase your lead.

What is your most-watched Christmas movie?
Charlie Harley, #14153 posted a topic in SASS Wire Saloon
My wife and I just finished our annual enjoyment of Love Actually. Before that movie came out (2003), It’s a Wonderful Life was our go-to each year. Mix in the various variations of A Christmas Carol and a biannual-ish evening of White Christmas and you have our playlist. So what movies do the Saloonatics enjoy each year? And is wish you all a wonderful season in however you celebrate. -
My parents’ retirement home had a deck from which they could see the eastern horizon. For one year they went to the deck each month on the 22nd, Mom stood at a certain place, and Dad marked the handrail where Mom saw the sunrise. After the year they labeled the months, solstices, and equinoxes. Yes, they were very tuned to the rhythms of Nature.

What's wrong with this?
Charlie Harley, #14153 replied to Tex Jones, SASS 2263's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
Empty chamber indicator reduces chance of an AD while she’s looking at her phone, making googly eyes at her boyfriend, or chatting with friends. But I guarantee she’s been trained in an immediate action drill to flick out the indicator and close the bolt in fractions of a second. It’s a good compromise in my opinion. Others can disagree. -

Almost spit coffee at this one, Doc. I remember flying gunnery exercises at Grafenwoehr in the snow. Our scout aircraft used the rim road to navigate to various ranges just like the armor and mech infantry units. We were maybe 200’ AGL looking down at the tread heads in the snow and mud and thinking “Sure sucks down there.” as I turned the heater up.
