  1. I had zero No.3's at the start of 2024 .

Now I have 4 different No.3's and have come to luv the gun design.

    What a beautiful pistol .

I will always be a Colt Open Top fan .

But the No.3's have really grown on me

  2. I don't know why people keep saying 45 cowboy specil wont fit in 45acp cylinders  ?

    Never asked that question

    The question is,

Should I buy a 45ACP cylinder and shoot 45acp cartridges in my Colt gun or Just buy 45 Cowboy Spl and shoot them in the 45 Colt Cylinder  !

Does anyone have data for 32 Smith & Wesson Long using either Accurate #2 or #5?

Hodgdon's website does not list those powders for that cartridge. My Accurate manual does not list that cartridge at all. Lyman Cast Bullet does not list those powders. Lyman number 48 has data for #5, but only for lightweight jacketed bullets. Speer #12 has #5 data for 100 grain full wadcutter.

I'm looking for 100 grain to 115 grain lead bullet data.

I have been loading this cartridge for years with Unique, but apparently Unique has changed its name to Unobtainium.

I have four .45 acp Birdshead Vaqueros that shoot C45S just fine. They are .45 acp ONLY, not convertibles.

... ? I'm not reading something right, I guess. The thicker rim of the AR cartridge won't allow it to work in a single action .45 acp revolver, of course, unless the cylinder has been shaved to use moon clips, and you would have to remove the base pin & cylinder to reload the acp's.

  5. As L.E.P has already stated .

You could blow up your gun with the wrong powered ammo .

Your best bet would be to buy a little bit of equipment and supplies and load your own ammo .

  6. Thanks for all the responses.

I knew I could cut down my split 45 colt brass .

But I like to keep a minimum of 4 or 5 hundred round loaded for everything I shoot .

And I did not want to wait that long for split brass lol.

I have hundreds of 45 ACP 200gr rnfp already loaded for my 1911's .

So that why I have the debate of 45 Spl Brass or 45 ACP Cylinder.

The nice part of 45 Cowboy Spl I can shoot them in all my 45 Colt guns not just having cylinders for just two guns.

The things we have to deal with as Cowboy Shooters

  7. I have been reloading and casting for longer then I care to remember.

Even though prices keep rising on equipment and supplies.

To reload will cost you about 25% of the price of buying.

I have over the years bought and bought and bought equipment and or supplies to last the rest of my intre life .

You can usually find old single stage or progressive presses around for Pennies on the dollar compared to Equipment.

I use my brass till I can't use it any longer before I replace brass .

I cut 44 mag down to 44 special or even 44 Russian depending on the split in the brass .

I have bags & bags of new brass I have bought at a discounted price over the years and have never even opened yet .

You just need to shop around put the word out and you will find the stuff you need relatively cheap compared to buying new equipment.

Supplies is what it is .

When the price is right buy all you can afford.

You will use it all sooner or latter .

    So Saith The Rooster.

Haven’t had any replaced yet, but had a few removed battling cancer. Did get some stints put in from a couple of heart attacks.
I remembered a post a while ago that was saying your Navy has no replacement parts for it. If I am wrong my bad. Enjoy your 66, and that Remington you beat me out of!  I had wanted it as a souvenir relating to my Great Grandfather being kidnapped y the James gang and taking a bullet out of Frank James!  Have to keep looking

You are right there are No Drop in replacement parts for the older rifles.

But that don't mean with a little elbow grease and some flat stones you can't make thing still work .

    Just Sayin.

    Sorry about the Remington.

If I ever decide to let it go I will let you know .

Don't be in a hurry they do come around.

    God bless.

  9. I have a old Navy Arms Uberti 66 .

    The rifle runs great .

The only thing that is really different from my point of view is the shooter is a hell of a lot older then he used to be .

And have parts fitted to him cost a hell of a lot more then the rifle !

  10. None of it is really rocket science.

It just takes a little more fitting of the new parts in a old rifle.

The new rifles are more standardized and most parts will drop in and run .

The old rifles the parts need to be fitted to your rifle .
