The HECK I WILL. I'd sleep in a Walmart parking lot in the back seat of my truck first. -
One year when I was a young Marine, it was coming up on the Marine Corps Ball. At Formation, we were instructed that all male Marines would wear Full Alpha Uniforms or Dress Blues. Women Marines could either wear uniforms OR Formal Gowns. When asked why the WMs could wear gowns, we were told so the we could see that they were far more to look at than the Uniform. I know how THAT would fly today. Last weekend, I attended a Celebration of Life for a friend's son who'd OD'ed. The kid was only 21, and was a Fraternity Member. Many of his Brothers were there, as were many women of the same age group. I'd never seen so many short black dresses and long blond hair in one place in my life.

Some years ago, at my friend Tex's work they were have a Health Day, and everybody was getting a cholesterol test. A guy that worked with him told the person drawing blood that Tex's blood would come out more like gravy than anything else. -
I used to use booking.com when making travel plans for my Ohio trips and always got decent deals, and never a problem when changing reservations. And they were always "Pay upon arrival". That's no help this time but might be of some to somebody down the road.

I had the misfortune of being Stationed in Massatwoshits from '86 to '88. I had but one gun back in those days, and it never saw the light of day the entire time we were there. While there are a FEW decent people there, by in large Pilgrims are some of the rudest, nastiest, and overall unpleasant I've ever had to deal with. I cannot see myself EVER going back there. I met other Marines in other Duty Stations from there, and even THEY said they'd never go back. John Kloehr is right about their driving too. On any freeway type road, they use the Right hand shoulder as a high speed passing lane. That is when they're not reading a NEWSPAPER draped over the steering wheel. I'm truly sorry for anybody who lives there, but it's your choice so I'm not that sorry. I'd hate to be forced to choose between Massatwoshits and Kalifornia as a place of residence.

These people don't hate them, they just consider them props in their life. When's the last time you heard anything about Rihanna? I can't remember when. But now she has instant publicity! Remember a few years back when all those "stars" were adopting children from third world countries? They were just props for publicity too. It was little more than a fashion trend for them. I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut that most of them spend next to no time with these kids, they have nannies for that. I kind of feel sorry for those kids, even though they still have it better than they might otherwise have had it. -
Offensive stickers on cars and trucks

I don't think that anyone's saying that he can't say what he wants, but doing so might make him look stupid. Like the old saying: "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt" -

I think that the best that we can hope for is that anybody with any sense at all will look at a car absolutely covered with stickers of any kind and figure that the guy is a nut and ignore him. -
Honestly, some will, some won't. The .357 is the same way. I tried most of the tricks for making one run with .38s, but it wasn't until I trimmed my ejector spring that it started working right. Here's a website that tell you how to work on it yourself: https://marauder.homestead.com/files/Rossitune.htm

Did it every time I roadtripped to Ohio. Two days at 12 hours a day, third day 4 hours and I was there. 1800 miles.

It's your own fault for being there. We'd welcome like minded people here if you'd want to come. -

Totally agree. I'm always scanning my surroundings, watching for something or someone who looks Not Right. I've even been asked about it. Some people ask what I'm looking for. One lady asked if I was a soldier because I looked like I was constantly looking for the enemy. (I told her no, I'm a Marine). We've all heard Colonel Jeff Cooper's color code, White (unaware/unprepared), Yellow (relaxed but alert), Orange (focused, identifying potential threats), and Red (imminent danger, ready for lethal action), and I try to practice it. As a truck driver, I've kind of adapted it for driving too. White (Just trying to get from point A to B. Not really watching traffic. Probably on the phone too.) Yellow (Paying attention to traffic and road conditions. Looking beyond the bumper of the car in front of you.) Orange (Noticing a potential problem. Slow downs, multiple brake lights ahead, even a "stale" traffic light.) Red (Ready to turn, moving to the curb or turn lane away from a traffic jam. Police or Fire Dept lights ahead, foot covering the brakes.) Like The Colonel's system, most people walk and drive in the White. -
Using the Phonetic Alphabet is a totally different creature. It's a way to let somebody else know exactly what letter you mean, and is the complete opposite of the lazy abbreviation culture people use to text on their D&MN phones because they can't be bothered to actually speak to somebody. For the most part, the only reasons I can see texting would be better than talking would be texting an address or directions to someplace. Something on that order. (Yes, I know I'm a borderline luddite.)

There was a series of "Men's Adventure" books back in the '80s, (think "The Executioner", "The Destroyer', etc.) who's title character did just that with his 1911 after every fight. Unfortunately my rememberer can't find it right now, but I'll bet one of you guys knows it.

Sounds like something you'd try, knowing that it's a bad idea. I want pictures.

It may have been from the actual shooting. I was just making a guess based on Tex Jones stating that the article said that the shooter used an M1. -

This site is very comprehensive when researching CCW permits, applications, and restrictions. It's great for showing reciprocity. Click on your state and it lets you know what other states honor your CCW permit or not. It also lets you know what states have Constitutional carry. https://www.handgunlaw.us/ -

The "reporter" probably Googled "rifle clip" and that's what came up. The "reporter", not knowing any better, just used that picture. -
They usually say that they conclude a Glock because the bullet has polygonal marks on it instead of conventional rifling. They seem to never know that older HK pistols had the same thing.
-
It was a bit intimidating writing mine too. But the best thing you can do is just start. As for my book the, Messenger says that you cannot receive messages. But it's called "Bucksnort".
-
When they do get a JHP bullet, they tend to be shown in two ways: Either they are fragmented beyond identification, or the computer in the lab can scan the fragments and reconstruct the bullet and ID it. Depending on what the script calls for. Occasionally they are shown with the nose bent over, and the the body intact so they can match rifling.
-
As a for instance, 9mm bullets are different than .38s by type. A 9mm typically uses a 115, 124 or 148 grain bullet, while a .38 might use a 110, 125, or 158 grain bullet. 9mm will usually be a FMJ, while a .38 will usually use a lead or semi jacketed bullet. These aren't absolutes of course, but good examples. As for the .30 example you site, a .30 Carbine usually uses a 110 grain bullet, while a full size rifle usually has something heavier. If you reload, and were wanting to confuse the issue, you might resize a 125 grain semi jacketed HP.38 and load it in a 9mm case.

Conspiracy Theory
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 replied to Warden Callaway's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
What show would that be. Most of them are so much drivel. I did like "Bigfoot Hunters", mainly because the guys seemed to be True Believers. Most of the rest of them seem to be the usual "reality" shows where they're long on talk and short on finding.
