Back in the 60s, it was "It's supposed to snow tonight, so get up early tomorrow and shovel the driveway so that your father can get to work, then ride your bicycle to school. Your peanut butter sandwich will be in the 'fridge." -

Actually I've never watched a race. Just not interested. I'd always heard about the standard Oval Track racing. But many years ago, I heard George Carlin's bit on sports, and in it he mentioned "Bunch o' good ol' boys going fast and turning left", and in what passes for my mind, I hear THAT any time NASCAR comes up in conversation. Like I said, just being a smart alec. I don't have anything against NASCAR, though like Football, baseball, basketball, etc. I don't understand the hype. But I do hope that the rest of you enjoy it. -

Okay. That gives you an idea how long it's been since I've paid any attention to it. I was actually quoting George Carlin, just being a smart alec. No offence intended. But you all enjoy. -

Many people think that the Sixth Commandment says "Thou Shall Not Kill". I believe that it originally said "Thou Shall Not Murder". Significant difference. I'm pretty sure that I'll never murder someone, but if he's trying to hurt me and mine, I'll kill him. -

ASMs were kind of Second Tier guns. While most Uberti's were done alright, (not great back then, but they were the best we could get for repros), their parts tended to not be as well made as Uberti's, nor did they have the Hardness of them. If my rememberer is right, both were supposedly based on Second Generation Colts. I probably wouldn't depend on internal parts for replacements, but the Grip Frame and Trigger Guard should be fine. All that being said about ASM's quality, the best shooting revolver I have is an ASM Richards Conversion. It started out as an 1860, and had the larger Grip Frame for that. But since it's a .38, and original Richards' were .44s, I decided that it should be an 1861. I got a Grip Frame assembly for it off eBay and fitted it with some judicious filing, and got this. If I do my part, it'll shoot one hole groups all day. -
which is better - skip a dose or double dose?
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 replied to Alpo's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
The only things I take are for Diabetes, (Type One), and Cholesterol. My wife takes Blood Pressure meds. But neither of us is in such a delicate state that missing a dose will be catastrophic. If we miss one, and notice within an hour or two, we'll take them. If it's any longer than that, we wait until the next dosage. Ask your Doctor. He or she know you best. The rest of us here are just guessing. We certainly don't want to lose you. The Internet would probably collapse without you. -
"Gun Jugging?" Bad Idea
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 replied to Lawdog Dago Dom's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
When I'm at an actual Gun Range, I'm not so worried about it. But when I'm just out poking holes in the dirt, No matter how many guns I'm shooting, I always keep one gun loaded and on my person "just in case". The neighborhood isn't the best place to live, but I've never had any trouble. The people who live here are alright, but the bums passing through can be "questionable" at best. However, since I never leave the house not carrying, and I open carry, I think that they've got a pretty good idea that this isn't the place to start anything. -
I think that there was magic involved. That makes as much sense as "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!"

Have any of you guys ever rented a Forcing Cone Reamer? I attended YouTube University and it doesn't look too difficult, but I'd like to hear from someone who's done it. -
Agree on both accounts. Barbara Stock was smokin' back then, But she wasn't even close to Lindsay Bloom as Velda on Mike Hammer. Hawk started the series with an "N" Frame, but later carried an 8" nickeled Colt Python. But yeah, WHERE did he conceal it?!?! Joe, sorry for derailing another thread. A while back we had a hawk with a dead pigeon in one talon sitting right on out back fence. VERY cool. Sorry.

Miwall reloads. 250 gr. RNFP. I don't reload, and these rounds work fine in another half dozen pistols I have. -

I've had the barrels turned on most of my guns. 3 degrees left gets me where I need to be for windage. Elevation is my problem here. I'm still wondering how the forcing cone could cause it to shoot that high. -

But then I wouldn't have a Tombstone Special. -
A while back I managed to acquire a Cimarron Tombstone Special by Pietta. LOVE the gun, light action, and even with the 10 inch barrel it balances well. But it has a problem. It shoots so high, that I have to hold low to the point that I can't see the front sight to even hit the target at 10 yards. I've considered replacing the front sight with a taller one, I just haven't gotten around to it. Today I got the bright idea to call Cimarron and see if they had any suggestions, parts, or whatever. The guy I talked to was cordial enough, but he'd never heard of one being that far off POA to POI. He suggested that the forcing cone might be off somehow and it might need a new barrel. Now I'm no expert, ((clearly), but I've never heard of a forcing cone causing a problem like that. Before I pay a Gunsmith to look at it, what do you guys think? Could that be the problem? Or should I just make a taller sight for it? Or maybe see if I can push Cimarron to look at it as a warranty issue. And would they even consider it since I got the gun used?
