  1. I know, I know. we need those protected categories because “the old folks aren’t as good at this as those youngsters”. but we can’t let the youngsters shoot gunfighter because “they aren’t good enough at this”. But yeah, my question also includes categories like classic cowboy and B-western.
  2. Dammit, now I wan ice cream. You’re a bad influence.
  3. And those will always be a concern. A good reason that I personally feel more discussion prior to rule changes than what we’ve been seeing as of late would have a positive impact.
  4. Yeah…. Let me know how many junior shooters placed above silver seniors at EOT….
  5. Ok, but there is no requirement that a gunfighter alternate their shots and it is currently allowed that a duelist or traditional shooter may alternate their shots so….
  6. Lol. I’m not for adding more categories, but SASS already opened that gate. All I’m suggesting is that a junior shooter who wants to shoot duelist or classic cowboy, etc. maybe should be allowed to do that against other people in their own age group, unless of course the reasoning for allowing it only in the senior categories is just because the good ole boys have the reins and the kids don’t.
  7. Because without it, differentiating between a duelist only category and a gunfighter inclusive category would become nearly impossible.
  8. Yes, although that penalty would likely still need to stay in place for the duelist and classic cowboy categories.
  9. Also: I was tired yesterday, and I’m tired again today. I am retired.
  10. The only real argument I can see against it is that it would be a tool that would allow some of the fastest categories in the game to become a little faster. And we all know that there are more than a few who definitely don’t want to allow that to happen.
  11. It seems what’s good for the goose should be good for the gosling.
  12. Since SASS has opened the gates to age based breakdowns of style and “costume” categories, (ie. senior classic cowboy etc. ), would a shooter be able to sign up as a junior classic cowboy, junior duelist, etc?
  13. Who knows, if the powers they be were to allow GF style in the age based categories, you might just see some folks having a little fun with it, and smiling…..
  14. Duelist categories were not diminished nor have they become irrelevant by allowing the age based categories to shoot duelist style.
  15. It seems to me that eliminating the use of a particular skill in order to “level the playing field” is just about as far contrary to the purpose of holding a world championship as anything I could imagine. IMO.
  16. Never mind that every two handed category has the option to shoot any stage duelist as well. Nothing like leveling an already level playing field. Unless of course the real purpose was to remove an option that one category’s shooters might be a little better at.
  17. It’s amazing to me that this thread has gone to 6 pages without a simple explanation of why or what the thought process was.
  18. Not arguing for or against the instruction as I haven’t looked at the stage close enough to have an opinion on it. However, any shooter can shoot duelist on any stage so without the special instruction, everyone still would be playing on the same field. I’ve personally held a shotgun while shooting a revolver duelist in a “traditional” category because it made sense to do it on that particular stage.
  19. This is an IAC. When tuned right they are not anything to shy away from IMO. https://youtu.be/8XfOnadlA8k
  20. The ‘87 is the most difficult gun in the sport to run, but also the most fun IMO.
  21. That would be my opinion as well. Interested to hear an official position.
  22. What requirements must be met for a shooter to be eligible to be named state/regional/national champion? If a shooter from another country moves to the US and lives here, plans to live here for several years, are they eligible to be named champion of their state/regional/ national match where they live?
  23. Moats...or maybe some lava.
