  1. I remember with Quigley Down Under came out and the waiting list for a C or Shiloh Sharps went to a 5 years. Shortly after that the prices started rising. One nice thing about it was you could put down a deposit and get the price locked in with a C Sharps and they would notify you of a price increase. C Sharps make it so you had the opportunity to pay it off in case of an increase. I seem to remember the price increased a bit before I received the rifle and it was a great investment. My wife let me know it is only an investment if you a willing to sell.
  2. It would be interesting to see what the top 16 shooters prefer.
  3. As many of you know SASS Kicker and Cody James grandparents, John and Jerry Ryan, attended every World, National, and State Cowboy Action Championship. Unfortunately, John Ryan passed away yesterday of a heart attack. Having John and Jerry at these events was like having your own cheer squad at a Cowboy Action Shoot. SASS Kicker stayed her junior and senior years with John and Jerry to attend a more rigorous high school in Phoenix and prepare her for a career in medicine. SASS Kicker wrote in the January 2017 Cowboy Chronicle, I have grown so close to my family and the many SASS members that I
  4. As some of you know we all shoot Ruger's in competition, but I love the feel of a Colt. Just had Bob James do an action job last year on a Colt I purchased some 20 years ago. Incredible! It is an early 3rd and I will be shooting it. It was unfired and paid $850. A few years later I purchased a 5 1/2 inch early 3rd in 44-40 with an extra 44 special cylinder for $1250. Both were unfired. Every once in while I check to see what the Brokers are selling them for and was wondering why the sudden increase. Thanks for your responses.
  5. Was just looking at the price of a 3rd gen SAA Colt on several of the firearm brokers and it appears the price of a new or like new Colt has gone up significantly. There appears to be a lot for sale. I read earlier that the Colt factory is not manufacturing as many single action firearms and only in a few calibers. The prices listed are over $2000 for an early third or new Colt in just about any caliber or barrel length. Are there any new recent developments, or is just supply and demand?
  6. Congratulations from all of us. Look forward to seeing you at Winter Range.
  7. Winter Range has been incredibly generous with their awards and items they have given for participation. The Range Bags last year are a reminder of our participation every time we load up to go shooting. We have Winter Range gun cases and sleeves. We have even won nice items at Winter Range. But most importantly they give us an opportunity to shoot in a National Championship with friends from all over the world. The Winter Range workers are some of the most hard working individuals I have ever meet. They make huge efforts to make this a memorable match. Thank you for all you do!!!!
  8. I like Smokestack's idea. ACSA and Cowtown have Shootist categories which takes the pressure off the same shooters winning their categories every year or switching to another category which they will often win. You always know how you stack up against all your competition by your overall scores. Sounds like a fun challenge Smokestack. Great idea. It is all fun.
  9. Call Johnny Meadows at Camp Verde Gunworks. He will advise you according to your budget. All of us shoot SKB 100's.
  10. I would hope that those who make the decisions in SASS would look into the finals of EOT and into Bud's idea. I do not want to take away from Savage Sam's championship. He won it under the current rules that have been used for years and is the champion. I do believe that any contest should evaluate the results and see if the rules are turning out the outcome they are trying to achieve such as the fastest, most consistent etc....When you look at the total times of the no. 2 and 4 shooter overall and the no. of stages won by these shooters, I do see a situation that needs attention and Bud's

  13. Hello Spencer-Great job on Sons of Guns. It is great to see you getting recognition. I have a friend that just acquired a Colt 1911 that maybe rare. I would like to send you some pictures. It has some slight rust issues and neither of us know how to deal with them. I misplaced your business card at Winter Range. Kirk
