  1. I agree. I've seen some very nice 66's and 73's. What I haven't seen is very many good looking Marlins. They're out there, but few and far between.
  2. I will take two of the Ruger wood Gunfighter grips. PM me where to send the $70.
  3. Here’s your answer. Harder to set up to run fast and harder to learn to run fast with no upside other than subjective looks, and only one reloading option, over the top.
  4. Are you sure it doesn’t do more than that? When I select sport mode in my car it changes the throttle response, the suspension stiffness, the steering and the exhaust. On automatic versions it changes the shift points too. Admittedly it’s a car not a truck. I wish I still had my Ranger, that was a great little truck!!
  5. That’s not where you need to be holding the rifle. Having the pivot point that far back on the rifle creates a see-saw effect with the muzzle. I like to index on the cap, which the 60 doesn’t have. To a bottom third shooter the fraction of a second you lose probably doesn’t matter, but to a shooter who wants to finish first it does. Does a ‘60 even come with an 18 inch barrel?? I assume reloading over the top is the only option?
  6. Mudbugs are the only insects I'm interested in, though I might try chocolate covered cicadas the next time we get a big brood.
  7. Interesting. Kind of explains why my Camaro has 20 inch wheels. I might be better off dropping down a bit for a lower top speed (I don't plan on going 180 mph anytime soon) for a bit more acceleration. Those big tires just look good though...
  8. I’m going to miss Clays. I’m thinking I can top off my powder hopper one more time then it’s Titewad time.
  9. I've been running 12.2 of Clays, but that's about gone, so I bought a big jug of Titewad. I plan to try that at 12.2 and see how it goes. Both of those are a couple of grains below the minimum published load.
  10. My situation is unique in a couple of ways. First, I’m reloading for several people. On a slow month we go through 11 boxes. Sharyn and I shooting four matches each, Iron Cowboy shooting two and Kid Flash shooting one. On a busy one we go through 14 boxes 4-4-4-2. If it’s a busy month with a major match we go through 16+ boxes. Lethal Lizzie doesn’t shoot much, maybe 5-6 matches a year. In a year we probably go through at least 20 cases, maybe 25. I don’t buy hulls, I buy new Remington GC in minimum lots of 5 cases. November and December are factory months when I’m accumulating once fired hulls for major matches. A box of shells probably costs me about $7-$8 to reload, so I’m probably saving $2-3 per box times 200-250 boxes so call it $500-$750 a year saved. When it comes to CAS, we spend a fair amount of money. Second, a pard gifted me with a Ponsness Warren 800 plus a while back and then gave me an auto drive this year, so reloading effort consists of placing a wad then flipping the switch. I can reload a case of hulls in about 30 minutes. Finally there’s recoil. My loads are probably clocking in at about 950 fps vs factory loads at 1145 fps. Iron Cowboy and I don’t care much either way, but Shootin Sharyn, Kid Flash and Lethal Lizzie do.
  11. I think I look good no matter what kind of rifle I'm wearing. That's what Mom told me and I know she wouldn't lie!

Clean match pins (clean for all three qualifying matches) Magnificent 7 participant pin If you would like to shoot a category that isn't listed, please write it in on the app. If I get enough interest in a category to cover a buckle we'll add it. I would like to think everyone who chipped in with thoughts on how to score this match. After careful consideration I've decided to stick with match points as it was calculated last year. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good and reasonably easy to understand. All Around Cowboy requirements. All Around Cowboy participants must shoot three matches utilizing three of the following four shooting styles: Traditional, Duelist, Gunfighter and Outlaw. Participants may compete in All Around Cowboy AND a 'typical' category if they shoot enough qualifying matches. For example, @Badlands Bob #61228 could shoot three matches Gunfighter, and two matches using two of the other three shooting styles (Duelist, Traditional and Outlaw) and he would be eligible for both the Gunfighter AND All Around Cowboy buckle. Last year was a lot of fun. We had right at 60 competitors. I'm hoping for closer to 80 this time. This year we have a website. It's still under construction...thanks Tyrel Cody!! http://southeastopenmagnificentseven.com/ Magnificent Seven 2024.pdf
