  1. Wow, been awhile since I saw those names. Used to love the books!
  2. Reminded me of these crazy guys: https://petapixel.com/2013/10/29/honored-photograph/
  3. Or that he uses peeve leather...
  4. I don't have pet peeves so much as a peeve menagerie. I will mention though that Red Cent does nice leather work.
  5. I'm shooting an NKJ '92 that I got for a good price, two Taurus Gauchos that I got for a good price and a Stoeger SxS that I got through work. If I had waited for the guns I "wanted" and hope to someday have, I would've had to sell some other guns that I don't want to part with, make other sacrifices, or just not shoot. I prefer to shoot. I prefer to enjoy the company of other shooters. I compete against myself. Maybe one day I will find myself competitive with others. In the meanwhile, I shoot. Not as often as I would like, but I shoot.
  6. I'm rich in some ways, but I would sure like to live less paycheck to paycheck.
  7. No need to apologize. I, along with others, have been known to start new threads so as to avoid serious tangents on existing threads. Seems to make sense to me. If you look at the other thread, it was specifically about what firearms one would buy. It has had some tangential posts thrown in. Too many, and it gets hard to follow.
  8. I've long said everyone wants to be rich and famous. Not me, I want to be rich and anonymous.
  9. He isn't the first. The FIRST thing I would do would be to pay off my existing debts. The SECOND thing I would do would be to put an amount into a trust, so that I couldn't be stupid and bankrupt myself. Then there would be the "play pile."
  10. I'll take Penn and Teller any day of the week.
  11. A number of years back, a guy won the lottery. In Kentucky, if I remember correctly. When interviewed, he said the timing was perfect. His divorce was finalized the week earlier.
  12. Of course, having a Cowboy Town built would be mandatory.
  13. No, I would say not. Nominated for Best Supporting Actor for 'The Right Stuff.' Director, author, well respected playwright. Quite the talent.
  14. Probably quite an eclectic collection. Start with a Krieghoff double rifle. An example of every official rifle and sidearm used by the U.S. Army that I can think of. A couple of nice bolt action rifles, maybe SAKO, to replace the ones I sold, or something along those lines. .243, .270. Nothing outrageous. Of course multiple sets of CAS firearms. A couple of Browning Hi-Powers. A couple of 1911s in different calibers (.45, .38 Super, 9mm) Several DA revolvers, various S&Ws, maybe a couple of Rugers. Sure some others, too
  15. I honestly don't remember the last gun show I went to.
  16. It is a fact of life that things take longer for some than for others. Sometimes it is also the only peace and quiet a person can find for a couple of minutes.
  17. Ouch! That does sound painful. But hopefully the pain in the wallet will be balanced by the relief in your finger. Just be careful showing everyone where you had surgery...
  18. My doctor: "Where does it hurt today?" Me: "Yes."
  19. The most recent issues of Fine Scale Modeler Magazine, Scale Auto Magazine, The Cowboy Chronicle, Guns of the Old West, and an occasional other magazine or catalog that manages to work its way in.
  20. I would say that if you look at a map, Ohio has plenty of rural areas, small towns and small cities within commuting distance of bigger cities. Columbus is a good example. Within half an hour you have several smaller cities and towns that aren't actual suburbs. Given Ohio's size and highway system, putting yourself near Columbus would put you within a couple of hours drive of nearly all the shooting you can handle.
  21. Been there, done that. Too many times to count.
