Punk rock??

I agree that punk was absolutely important to the evolution of rock. Some bands, such as The Clash, are considered incredibly influential. They are a mainstay on my music playlists, along with others like Dropkick Murphys and some hardcore punk bands like Agnostic Front and The Cro-Mags. I even enjoy some of the newer pop punk bands like Fall Out Boy. All too often people think “punk” and automatically think “Sex Pistols “ or other lightly talented but notorious bands and dismiss it entirely. From its start, rock music has been, if not political, then at least rebellious. Whether it was, as Carl Perkins put it, “White boys messing around with black boy rhythms,” or the British Invasions, metal, or even new wave or grunge, it has pushed against the status quo. Punk was no different, and pushed back against the complacent and very mainstream rock of the seventies that was money driven and formulaic. We could use more bands like The Clash today.

For all you too young to know, the Dead Kennedy’s were a punk rock group in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
I got that one immediately. Some of our crowd may be too old to know...- 2
