  1. I've gotten a truck camper recently and have been fixing it up. I've set it up with a tv and a car stereo that can play dvd as well as play Mpeg4 from USB drives. I'd like to put some of my western on a small drive so that I won't be tempted to take my disks with me. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with converter programs. I'd like to find something that works well and is reliable. I've tried a couple of programs but they've been hit or miss.

    Any suggestions?

  2. I just acquired a Bond Mini 45 derringer. It comes in .45 colt with a 2.5" barrel. I don't load .45 colt and would like to trade barrels with someone. If anyone has a .357 mag barrel they'd be willing to trade for it I'd much appreciate it.

My barrel has had less than a box of factory loaded Winchester lead round nose bullets put through it. It is in like new condition. I'll toss in what's left of the box of ammunition. Should be ten left.

    PM me for details.

  3.

    Ditto.

I think if you check, she worked for the CIA, but wasn't a field agent at the time. The biggest problem with her being "outed" was that it put her former cover company and agents claiming to work for it in danger.

She operated a network and did go into the field to recruit agents. While she wasn't the James Bond type of spy she still was a spy. Sounds better that way.

  4. I had the pleasure of meeting John Williams, composer of many of the most famous themes on earth, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. Great guy. He even conducted the group when we played one of his works. Loved it.

I also met a real spy. Valerie Elise Plame Wilson, she was a CIA agent and spy before she was outed. Accidentally bumped into her while at college.

Condeleezza Rice, she spoke at my college. She's tiny but impressive none the less.

Met one of the racers from Street Outlaws. He's much different in person.

  5. I mix my own as that's what I have access to. Really I don't pay much attention to hardness for CAS. I start with fairly pure lead and add enough tin so that the bullets come out smooth and without voids. I have a separate mix for high velocity for hunting rounds. Those I added a bit more tin to them, but only until I feel that they're reaching the Lyman #2 type hardness. I'll also water drop those versus just dumping them onto a pan to cool like I do for my CAS bullets. Water quenching adds a lot of hardness, air cooling doesn't.

If you are unsure of what to do, getting ready mixed alloys would be best and safest. However it is more expensive. I cast mainly for CAS so I don't need perfect bullets. My higher velocity hunting rounds do get special treatment though and usually only 25% of those make it through to loading as I'm not satisfied with the quality and consistency of the rest.

  6. A lot of information on a house that may have been remodeled, altered is, or should be, available at the town hall. Open permits or closed ones can sometimes tell you a lot about what was changed or what might not meet code.

Not everything needs a permit depending on local regulations. Not everything that needs one gets one either.

  7. As a contractor I will tell you this. GET AN INSPECTOR. Have the home inspected before you buy it.

5 years ago I got involved with a family that just bought a house because they fell in love with it. $30,000 and 4 months later I had all the termite and mold damage repaired not to mention plumbing, electrical, and other problems that arose because of it. That was only repairs not improvements. I cut them a deal and gave them my price on materials and did the electrical and plumbing myself versus hiring an actual electrician or plumber that would have had a field day with what I found.

Get it inspected. It's more than worth the price.

  8. Talked to a friend about these. He has one that he may let me have at a good price. I don't know what it is just yet but it may be a good deal. I've bought guns off him before, he never asks a lot for them.

  9. Bond announced a contest to name the new gun but the web site to enter the contest is still under construction. You can still post on there face book page but the contest web page isn't ready yet. Kinda poor planning on their part.

They haven't announced the prize yet either. They said that their looking for a name for the derringer. There will be a prize, it'll be a good one.

How about the "Crocodile Dundee" Derringer?

Now, THIS is a Derringer. (Saying it with an Aussie accent, of course)

Dorado. You're free to use this for the contest, if you like it.

There may be copyright and trademark issues with that name...

    Thanks for the idea though.

  10. Dorado,

Win the naming contest & get the 6" gun.

Then, all you'll need to do is buy the shorter barrel for SASS.

Maybe they'll let you use their 50% off for a second barrel.

    Hope you win.

They have over 4,000 entries. I'm one of them. I may try to get in another name too. I'm trying to think of a good one. Only one I could think of was "Otso" a Mythical Bear called the King of the Forest. Figured that'd be fitting considering the size of the dang thing.

  11. Whiskey Hayes, That is a beautiful gun.

Bond is about to launch a brand new derringer with a 6" barrel!!!!
They are having a contest to name it.
If your suggested name is used, they'll give you a free 6" gun.

Hmmm....Maybe they were reading my thread here and decided to help me out..

  12. If not for this thread, I would totally forgotten about my Derringer I have at the bottom of my cabinet. Haven't shot it in at least 8 years.

BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!! How dare you not show a gun some love! As a gun rights advocate I must free that poor neglected baby!

    lol

  13. I bought my Bond with the competition kit installed by the factory.

The gun is awesome. I have used it in every match that had a derringer side match.

I have absolutely no idea what I paid BUT I bought them so long ago that the number would be meaningless!!!

I just talked to Bond Arms about the competition kit. They said that the competition kit is standard on all new guns now. That's great. That'll save me $150 so that's money I can put into ammo and other fun things.

I'm going to contact American Derringers and see if that price sheet is accurate or not. If it is I'll just go with a Bond the size bothers me but I know I'd have a safe and reliable gun.

I tried calling ADC, the store phone number has been disconnected and the other number gets me the voicemail of an Elizabeth. I sent them an email so I'm hoping for a response.

  14. Wow, that price list is from 2008. I wonder if they are even still in business? I haven't seen a new one on a dealer's shelf in a long time.

Yeah... has me worried too. If I buy one, even at a good price, and it dies on me. How am I going to get parts?

I looked up the width on the Bonds. They vary depending on grips but 1 1/4" to 1 1/2".

  15. I just found out that the AD Derringers are nearly $700 with a 12 week wait time! That's a bit rich for my blood to be honest. I can get a Bond for half that right now maybe less if I can find a used one. I'd like to find one with the competition kit if possible. Bond is now back in the running!

Anyone get the Comp kit in their Bond? How did you get it installed and what did it cost?

  16.

Just to make sure I'm looking at the right company, American Derringer's website is http://www.amderringer.com right? Because that website looks about ten years out of date. I am having trouble finding any real information about their products or the differences between them.

That's what I'm seeing. Not a big company. But if I can get a decent product then I'll be happy.
