  1. I agree with Cat B. I cull out the CBC cases as quick as I can. Their primer pocket diameters seem to be a tiny bit undersize and create more issues than they are worth.
  2. We shoot the 405's in my wife's Shiloh and both 405's and 500's in mine. After about 500 yards I see evidence of tumbling, so I switch to the 500's after 400 or so yards. I am starting in with the black-powder and it is a blast. For Smokeless I have used a number of powders but seem to have the best luck with Alliant 5744. I have been told by some BPCR shooters that the 5744 was formulated to try and emulate the black powder. It is a bit more pricy than some of the other stuff but for me it works better than anything I have found as of yet. I have used 3031, 4198 and a few others but the 5744 seems to be best so far. I will be going out this weekend with both Sharps, and have loaded up with KIK 2 fg, 5744, GOEX, and Black MZ a black powder Sub. The range I am going to is one of the few in the area that goes out to 1000 yards. I'll see how they do!
  3. Another good one for the "Thin Blue Line" Thanks you sir for this and all the other "Stuff" you guys do on a daily basis and get little or no thanks for!
  4. The first plane shown is from the Black Widows, 421st Fighter Sqdn, 388th Fighter wing, Hill AFB UT. I retired from one of the support Sqdns in the 388th!! Brought back many memories. Thanks!!
  5. I've been using one in .45 for about 5 years now and it is my go-to gun for everything cowboy. Love it!
  6. Shooting Bull, Do you use the normal grease/wax lube on your bullets? If so, how does it work for you" I have heard that the issues with auto bullet feeders is either the lube builds up and they become unreliable after just a few hundred rounds or that they hang up on the edges of the grease grooves and create feeding issues as well. I have thought about getting one myself but don't want to invest that kind of money if they clearly state jacketed bullets only and openly admit to not being 100% with bullets that may be sticky with lube or have sharp edges that interfere with proper working. I'l love to hear from those that use them. Thanks NC
  7. I loaded on a single stage Rockchucker for way more years than I care to remember. When I got into higher volume reloading for the AR type platforms I upgraded to a 650, about 20 years ago. About 6 years ago I started this CAS and was glad I had the 650, to keep up with the quantity of ammo I was consuming. Shortly after that my Wife started shooting CAS as well, only she was shooting .38's while I was shooting .45 Colt. Because of that I added a second 650 so I could leave one set up with the small primer feed and one with the large primer. Didn't really need it however I got a smoking good deal on a used one. I would not have done it for any other press but as long as it was for a 650, everything I had would interchange naturally. My ROI was the fact that I could shoot more with her as a partner and be together with her yet still be able to spend less time at the loading bench. Cash value of that? PRICELESS
  8. I fired up a few B/P rounds along with some Black MZ today and enjoyed both, after I got home I went to the local S/W and picked up 2 more bottles of the MZ, still a good deal at 9.99 per bottle.
  9. We shoot .38's in all of ours, however I have thought of switching to .357's just to help eliminate the stubborn ring of carbon and lead build up in the chambers due to the difference in length of the case. That is about the only advantage I can see that would be of any real significance.
  10. Agreed!! Maybe once through for a warm up and after that next time for score
  11. Ya know its good when ... She needs her own gun safe and then wants to fill it up
  12. '70 Chevelle, behind License plate, new gas cap, I can fill it up, just hope I never get rear-ended!
  13. My first cortisone shot lasted 6 or 7 months and my second lasted about 4 months. New knee shortly after that.
  14. Don't use anything with Hornady Brass!!! Hornady brass is shorter than WW Starline or any other brass out there
  15. 41 years ago today the woman of my dreams said "I Do" and she still does! My Hilda Billie is a dream comet true, and she has the patience is a saint to put up with me for all these years!
  16. Might try the Quigley next year it is definitely on the have to do list for both of us! She is already talking about the next year long range shoots at Winter Range.
  17. Neither is for trade. She's mine and the sharps is hers! I already have my sharps too
  18. Setting here in West Yellowstone Mt. On a short vacation celebrating our 41st anniversary. For Hilda Billie's gift we went to Big Timber Montana and she was able to get a brand new Shiloh Sharps,45/70 Right off the sales floor. After we spend a couple of nights here and another night or two in Jackson Hole WYOMING. we will be home in time to take it to the range to break it in. 41 years with that gal and we are still on our honeymoon. She is a keeper! When we get home pictures will follow
  19. That might have been a slip on my part, I can't check the most recent list but will do this evening when I get home. Thanks for the catch. I do not want to "Bad-Mouth" any organization that does not (in my opinion) deserve it. I will correct the prev post if warranted.
  20. Every so often I check the NRA site for their list of anti-gun companies and high profile personalities to see if there are any new or surprising additions or deletions. Because of that list I won't buy Lee jeans, I haven't been in a 7-11 for years, among other establishments. I can't easily avoid ALL of them but I do limit patronage to those I can. Here in Utah some of the franchises are permitted to go along with the company policy or not as they see fit.
  21. hers is the pink "Bond Lady". Mine is the3 1/3 inch Ranger
  22. We have 2, a .38/.357 for Hilda Billie and a.45/410 for me. Best derringer out there by far
  23. We are scraping the bottom of the barrel on this one, Trump is a bit less objectionable than Clinton. Those who waste a vote by not voting or writing in a third party nominee play right into Clinton's agenda.
