The flash suppressor on both of my M1a's are splined on the end of the barrel and NOT threaded. The only way I know of the add a suppressor is to remove the flash suppressor and put an adaptor on it that is splined to match the barrel and threaded or a bayonet type mount.

Still no idea from Taylor's for an Uberti '73 I ordered at EOT. Hopefully maybe on the next shipment. -
I have to agree with the "I am done" crowd". Normal price increase is one thing, but I suspect that as long as we, (all reloaders in general) continue to pay these prices , the sellers will laugh all the way to the bank. Last summer I purchased a few thousand at $70.00 per, and that was about double the prices of just a year prior to that. Now we're looking at triple + of the prices a short time ago. Yes I will continue to purchase them at any cost if necessary, but it will be for occasional recreational shooting, not thousands a month for practice+ matches+ other recreational shooting that both my wife and I enjoy.

I have 2 650's both with Mr. B/F's on them and, as others have stated the adjustments are CRITICAL. getting them just right can be a pain but once set they work for me. because they can be a pain, they are not used for short runs of any loads. Unless I plan on running a few hundreds of the bullet of the moment, I still place the bullets individually by hand.

I'm lucky enough to have a wife (Hilda Billie SASS 92974) who can embroider and has put my alias on my scarf so that it shows up and easy to read from quite a distance. I have had a number of score keepers appreciate it.

I just got in 2500 .38 bullets a day or two ago, and cast up 50 lbs of .452 200 Grain bullets. That did put a small dent in my stash of lead but a very small dent.

Retired now and on a “fixed” income yet still payin for both my and Hilda Billies guns costumes and all the other stuff that goes along with this game and all of our other hobbies. Old cars, old sewing machines, other guns and shooting sports, along with all the toys and great adventures that we are enjoying.

I was just in Lubbock TX and lucked into a total of 8,000 primers, 2 bricks each of small pistol, large rifle, large pistol, and shotgun. I haven’t seen any in my home town area of Ogden UT IN a year and a half. I was getting low on most all of my stash and only had 201 shotgun primers left to my name. Had a fair supply of smokeless S/G ammo so the last few were too be for black powder shell’s only.

Ezra, I am just a few miles up the road, Riverdale, If you didn't know the Wasatch Desperados are shooting tomorrow at 9AM at the Kaysville range. I will not be able to be there. If you get this in time, go up there tomorrow and talk with some o f the cowboys. Sly Steady hand is a top notch cowboy and may be able to help you out. The Utah state match is coming up in just a few weeks and there will probably be some used stuff for sale there as well. Next weekend I will be in Jerome at the End of Road annual shoot. I plan on getting to the Kaysville range to test out some guns before I leave for Jerome on Thursday. Give me a PM and maybe we can get together before Thursday, Noah

The base near us has transitioned from the F 16 to the F 35. Them things are LOUD!!! They are worse than the F 4's that we used to hear all the time while stationed at George AFB (now closed) in Victorville Ca. Here at Hill AFB we are right under the final approach so we hear planes all the time. We are also the repair depot for A-10's and F 16's. All that along with constant air traffic of the KC 135's, shooting Touch and Go's out of SLC Reserve base. C- 5's, C 17's are a common sight when deployment is leaving or returning. Those F-35's are by far the loudest thing in the sky around here.

Yep, way back in about '79 , a Colt 1911, I still have, a few years ag, a Smith 625 JM, and about 10 years ago a Shilo Sharps in 45-70.

I agree with OLG AND Ozark, 113 front sight, Buffalo Soule in appropriate length for intended range and you are good to go!

I have had a MBF for a couple of years and got the same frustration when setting it up, but once I followed the instructions to the letter and fiddled with it for a while I got it running up to speed. I appreciated it enough that I bought a second one for the other 650. One set for large primer cartridges and the other for the small primers. Once they are set they are good to go, but the adjustments are very fussy.

Well said, and there are no promises that any of us will be here tomorrow. Life is so fragile, let your loved ones know how you feel each and every day!

Just looked at this thread last night and thought I'd check my wife's rifle, an Armi Sport imported by Taylor's in 38-55. It too has the 1 in 18 twist, and my bullets as cast weigh in at 244 to 246 Grs. I hope to be able to get the gun ready for her to shoot in the near future. She will start with a mild load of Smokeless and move on to the black when she is comfortable with the gun. The info concerning the twist rates vs. bullet weight should be a real help.

We both have Shiloh Sharps 45/70's with MVA long range Soule sights, The 38-55 is hers, for out to around the 300 Yd mark, and the 45/70's for the longer range stuff. I think I will get the mid range MVA Staff for the 38-55. The Sight that came on the rifle would not stay on a piece of paper at 25 yards.

I am in the same process, 2 MVA Long Range Buff Soules on 45-70's going to get another MVA but this is going on a 38-55. Would the long range be "overkill" for a 38-55? How far out can I expect the 38-55 to reach ? The 45-70's deserve and have the long range, but I am thinking hard for the mid range. Any input or thoughts would be appreciated N.C.

Great product by great people!

Dave, This was a Springfield in 837,xxx range. Out of the "Low Numbered receivers" but not by far. It was a double heat treated receiver, which held up under the pressure. All in all I was very fortunate. NC
