  2. Dang she's fast...Not sure what it accomplishes but I liked the little dance at the end
  3. I used to shoot a set of 5.5" Vaqueros in .357. I did a weird switch to .45 Colt from shooting .38s. Now I have a New Vaquero 5.5" and and old model 7.5" Vaquero both in .45 Colt. I wasn't sure which I would like but I think I am going to go ahead and get me another 7.5" old model and use those as my primary match guns. Heck, I will never be real fast so I figure I might as well have fun. I moved up to a Rossi 92 in .45 with a 24" barrel too. And of course, I will be sticking with my SxS's. I have only used a 97 once in a match. Not sure what the attraction is...I don't care for 'em.
  4. Lone Dog, this is good news! Thanks. I Googled it and it appears that this is very true and not a rumor. Personally, I do not care for the little autos. I like revolvers. I have always wanted a Colt Detective Special but I could never afford a new one and older ones aren't cheap. Maybe this Colt Cobra will be something I can afford now. I have 2 snubbies now. An S&W 442 and a model 36. I love 'em both, but there is something about a Colt. All my favorite old detective movies featured the gun that I always wanted to own. Now maybe I can get one. A brand new one. I was interested in that Kimber K6S but it appears those were all hype. I have yet to see one for sale anywhere and there is no news on them. Maybe it's kismet. Maybe I will finally get my own Colt snubbie. Dang, I am gettin' as giddy as a school girl...hehehe A couple of years ago I bought a Kel-Tec P3AT. I hated that thing. I sold it. That thing was dreadful to shoot. You wouldn't think a .380 could buck that much but in an 8 ounce gun it's like touching off a miniature model 29 that bites your fingers and not your wrist and arm. It was a nice carry piece but I would rather have a little discomfort with a side of confidence and carry something I can shoot, trust and actually hit something with further away than arms length.
  5. Yep!..but it's more like 5 to 40 or maybe even later than that...hehehe
  6. The perfect explanation for why my body is in the shape that it's in...
  7. A New Year Means: I will be writing the last year's date on everything for the first 4 months. Medical deductibles. New fishing and hunting licenses. New confusing laws or regulations that cost me more money and hassle that somehow slipped in without my knowledge. My birthday will be coming soon and I will be another year older...that's better than the alternative, I guess. On a positive note, it's a new year...a time to make changes. A time to do something a little different if you wish.
  8. That is the only resolution I have ever been able to keep...
  9. That job seriously s***s. Been there done that. The last house we had with popcorn I painted it. I will never remove that stuff again. Period. When I painted it I went over the whole ceiling with a stiff bristle whisk broom. I used a nappy roller and I painted it with a latex semi-gloss paint to reflect a little more light. I used 2 good coats and I rolled it in 2 different directions and it came out great.
  10. Happy New Year my new friend I have seen lots of your posts Rooster. I saw nothing offensive. Think of it this way - You are a Word Conservationist
  11. I used to use a cross draw but switched when I went to double duelist and then gunfighter. I am seriously thinking of going back to a cross draw. My right wrist is screwy so I will be shooting 2 handed until it breaks all the way or I get it fixed. It feels weird to me to draw with my left, switch to my right and then back again for putting the gun back in it's holster.
  12. I think Deuce is correct about it being a regional thing. Just like other things such as hats and clothing. I have only shot one match here in Oregon but I didn't see any crossdraws. I also noticed that almost everyone wore their gun holsters both strong and weak side toward the front and hardly anyone had a stampede string on there hats.
  13. Deuce Stevens, Thank you for posting this thread. This is all good information and again, I apologize for hi-jacking it in regards to my S&W disassembly / reassembly question. I did learn something interesting regarding springs that I dd not know before. Next time I will create my own thread if I have questions prompted by someone else's query. Johnny Dollar, J-Bar, Henry T. Harrison and Driftwood Johnson - Thank You in particular for the info. Driftwood, that book and that rebound spring tool are exactly what I was looking for. I am terrible with videos. I have all the tools I need, just not that spring tool. I knew how to get the revolver apart, including the proper way to remove the side plate but I never ventured further as I didn't want to mess things up, hence my one signature line. J-Bar, I jumped in and re-joined the High Road because of your post. Thank you. Best Regards, Pat Riot
  14. Congratulations! I'm happy for you.
  15. I wondered if you drop a ball of molten glass into water if you'd get the same effect of the hardness without the fragile tail. I did a search on that and found lots of speculation on it and theories but nothing solid...pun intended.
  16. Yellow River Dance Honestly, I couldn't take but about 1/2 minute of that. I did fast forward to see the line dancing for about 5 or 6 seconds. It's not that I didn't think it was humorous, it was...a little, but unless there are smokin' hot ladies involved I think it's quite Fruity.
  17. Very true, Isom Dart. It seems that some people have no couth when it comes to how they act on line...or probably anywhere. The best people that I have ever known, as a whole, are here in SASS and on the Wire.
  18. Not to hi-jack your thread here Deuce but I haven't been able to find a manual that gives very good instructions on Disassembly and Reassembly of S&W revolvers. I don't want to learn by trial and error but I have a couple of older revolvers that I would like to re-do the springs as they are weak. Do any of you know a good resource for this that also list the special tools needed? My apologies for the hi-jacking. Pat Riot
  19. That is such a cool idea, Yul. Beautiful cart.
  20. It amazed me that people that had nothing to do with the chase went towards the vehicle rather than the opposite direction as it passed by. That crazy drunk person could have had a car full of explosives. I found the video interesting at the end of the video, At the bottom left corner there is a video labeled "what lies below" it has a shot of a woman in a yellow bikini under water. It's a video of a guy on a beach with and underwater metal detector finding all sorts of things, including jewelry underwater at a beach.
  21. Tex, we have all had experiences like this, I am sure. Don't bet yourself up over it. Look at it this way, it was a learning experience. Things like this can be frustrating but you didn't didn't just throw your hands up and walk away. You are working it out and getting it worked out. Have a great day and a Happy New Year.
