  1. I also appreciate it. Thanks for bringing it up, Ventura Slim.
  2. Lots of info on line regarding these shotguns in Australia.
  3. I would love to fire one and see how she goes. I have owned several pump guns - have 2 now but a lever, for me, would be easier to manipulate and probably more natural. I looked on line for pricing and availability but there isn't much.
  4. Evil, I have 2 of the "new" S&Ws. Both have gone back. 1 is a model 60 Pro. Releasing and opening the cylinder was tough. The 327 Night Guard had a bur on the crown rifling. Both work great now but I was shocked that they needed attention for as much as they cost me. My older ones are fantastic.
  5. I found "y"...hehehe
  6. Hilarious. Thanks Alpo.
  7. Very good news indeed. Merry Christmas!
  8. The more sure "they" are the less likely it is.
  9. The reason the record industry tried to kill Metal was because the groups were getting too right wing and too macho. Believe it.
  10. Pat Riot

    bought me

Mine was the Rossi 92 I got last Friday. What a great rifle it is...Merry Christmas!
  11. Big Sage, that one is on my list as well. I missed out on a very nice model 14 with factory jeweled works all because I hesitated. Darn!
  12. I find that the "celebrate diversity" crowd... don't.
  13. Man, is that ever true. That is how I ended up buying a Win. 94 in .357 back in 97 as my first CAS rifle. The man at the gun show said "this is the best Cowboy Action rifle out there. You can't go wrong." Since then I see and hear things like that all the time at gun shows, dealers and stores. Just a month ago I intervened at a Cabela's where a well-meaning salesman told a kid that "a Marlin 336 30-30 could be used in SASS matches". I butted in and asked the kid if he meant main match or side match. He just stood there blinking and said "well, I just want to shoot in SASS". I thanked the salesman and led the lad over to the side and gave him all the info I could pull up on my iPhone and the links to the Wire, SASS and showed him where to download the rule book. He was in town visiting from Montana and was going to have a gun transferred if he found a deal. I chastised a salesman a couple of years ago for trying to tell a lady that she had to shoot .45 Colt as "it's the only true cowboy round". If I sat down and wrote all the examples out that I have witnessed I would be here all day...
  14. Irish Pat, All the advice above works. It just depends on what you want for an end result and what kind of protection you are looking for in regards to weather. Something you should know, if you use stain and the gun stocks are checkered the checkered area will absorb more stain and it will be darker in appearance if you do an overall stain job.
  15. I agree with Birdgun on this, Michigan Slim. I always liked S&W revolvers but for years I couldn't swing buying them and then when I could I got sidetracked into other firearms, be they for CAS or tactical shooting or whatever. You can find older revolvers for pretty decent prices if you shop around IF you don't have your heart set on models that are "collectibles". I use Cabela's Gun Library as my source but you can find cheaper guns at on line auctions. I just don't fool with auctions. Too iffy for me. I have bought 4 of my 7 S&Ws from Cabela's GL and I am very happy with them. I also got a Ruger Vaquero from them. Their prices are higher but I trust them and they have a 10 return policy. Search them on line and sometimes they will low ball a price on a gun for some reason and smoking deals can be had. You just need patience. Some will tell you Cabela's is a rip off but I like 'em.
  16. Ahem...nice rotors...
  17. Chili Ron, They are pretty popular in my area. So popular a $19,000 car goes for $30k at the dealers here. I have no experience with them other than pricing one and passing on the "generous" offer.
  18. I recommend you wear nitril or latex gloves when using stripper. Also safety glasses.
  19. My uncle told me he used shoe polish in a tin to heat his C rations. I always wondered where "rock or something" came from. I used that term on a procedure I wrote once years ago :-) My boss got a kick out of it.
  20. Birdgun, I have a 19-4 with a 6" barrel. Been tempted to trade it in for a 27 or a 586 but I have a feeling I would regret that. I have the model 60 Pro with the 3" barrel and the full length stocks. Boy is that a nice carry / kit gun. It's light and slim. By the way, "needs" has nothing to do with it... :-)
  21. You are welcome. Funny how one can get tongue tied on a keyboard.
  22. No matter how how I try to respond to this video it turns ugly fast in regards to politics. I made 3 attempts at comparing then to now in this regard so I will just say this: Those guys were good shots. Crazy, but good shots. Thanks for posting the video Doc :-)
  23. The biggest detriment to wildlife and society these days are people like those in the Sierra Club. Perhaps we are neutering and belling the wrong creatures?
