  1. Thanks. I have a feeling the Adventure jacket I bought was more about style than function. A few years ago I met some guys that rode Adventure bikes at a roadside stop. It was a hot day with a breeze so it was comfortable in the gear I was wearing cargo pants, boots, tee shirt, leather jacket, helmet and gloves. All 4 of the Adv bikes were wearing gear and clothing made for adventure riding. Two of the guys took off their jackets and looked cool and comfortable. The other two looked like drowned rats. Tee shirts were soaked with sweat. They didn’t look comfortable at all. I commented that it was odd that two of them looked like they had a good day of riding and other two, not so much. One of the guys commented that the two guys that were all hot and sweaty bought cheap riding gear.
  2. I knew what you meant in the prior post. She and I are going to a range near her next week. She’s 70 miles north of me. She’s going to shoot the S&W Shield EZ in .380 and 9mm. If they have a .30 Super Carry gun we’ll rent that as well. I know they don’t have a Shield in 30 SC.
  3. I must say that I am glad that I am not alone in this regard. I do this too. I do this as well.
  4. Yes. At my LGS they have plenty in stocks. Much of it is range and target ammo, but defensive ammo is also available. I am a firm believer in target practice with your carry guns. I also think you should put practice in with your carry load often.
  5. Thank you. That is what I was curious about. Less recoil and easy to shoot. In reading various articles the .30 SC gets good reviews, but I don’t put a lot of stock in reviews where the person gets to try a free gun with free ammo and they make money for doing it I tend to think they may be a bit jaded. Everyone: I explained much of this to my sister regarding the round and it’s possible lifespan. SHOT Show is coming. If there aren’t a lot of new guns being introduced in 30 Super Carry that will also tell me a lot about where things are going with this round. After looking at this round and reports of what it can do I might get one myself IF more manufacturers make guns for the round.
  6. This deserves 10 laughing emojis and 5 stars. Now, what were we talking about?
  7. Oh, this wasn’t mesh gear. It was like a canvas material with “strategic air inlets” that didn’t work. I have used the mesh jackets for years and I like them when it’s hot. They provide some protection in case of accidents as well. As a matter of fact last summer I bought a new mesh jacket from Clearance Lyle Gear that’s a new upgrade of their old designs. A really great jacket. They have right hand zippers, not girly Euro zippers. The pockets are actually useful. There is a snap to stow the collar strap and overall the fit and articulation (not sure what the term is) of the jacket is excellent. I got this one in white / black https://www.cyclegear.com/gear/bilt-techno-2-jacket
  8. That’s great! And I don’t really care for bagpipes.
  9. Thank you. I sent my sister this video: Regarding the Shield EZ .30SC. I agree that it might be phased out due to poor sales, but in searching AmmoSeek I find there are a lot more ammo companies making ammo in .30 Super Carry. It was just Federal. Now it’s Federal, Remington, CCI, PPU and a couple of others that I can’t remember.
  10. I didn’t realize it took that many people to support a heavy machine gun.
  11. Howdy, My sister, who has always been a once a year or less casual shooter has expressed interest in shooting as a hobby as well as taking courses for safety, self defense and CCW. She tried and really likes my S&W model 10. She also tried my Glocks and she liked my G43 compact, but I convinced her that she really doesn’t have enough shooting experience to use a gun without a dedicated safety on it. I love my Glocks, but I don’t feel they are a good firearm for new shooters, in regards to their manual of arms. I recommended she try a S&W M&P Shield EZ. She has arthritis. She could barely rack the slide on my Glock 44 .22lr and couldn’t rack the slides on the bigger ones - all 9mm. I was steering her towards a revolver and she was interested until she saw pricing. She sent me some ads from Grab A Gun and asked if $450 was too much to pay for a 9mm or .380 Shield EZ. Then out of the blue she sent me a link from GaG that had the Shield EZ .30 Super Carry priced at $280. Darn good price, but I really couldn’t give her any real world feedback on the .30 SC except for what I have read about it. Anyone have experience with the EZ and the .30 Super Carry cartridge? Thank you
  12. I bought one of those jackets that Adventure Bike riders wear. I was trying to find something cooler than my heavy leather jacket. It was in the upper 90’s. I made it about a mile on a street with lights designed to stop me at every intersection. I turned around and went back to the store. Luckily I was able to return it for full price (I didn’t remove the tags). I bought it because the guy showed me all the openings all over the jacket to help keep you cool. All the openings did zero good because the jacket pressed against me negating the air flow that was supposed occur while riding.
  13. The “Can’t Seafood” diet Not so funny now, is it? John won the Joker Award at his lodge for this one.
  14. By the way, is that your insurance adjuster there by the bumper shroud?
  15. “Tis but a scratch” I am glad you’re feeling better. Perhaps some physical therapy would help, especially in the neck area. The problem with a salvage title is some insurance companies won’t insure cars with salvage titles. At least they didn’t insist on taking possession of the car for the pay out. I am glad you’re going to put her back together.
  16. A friend of mine had a Mosin Nagant carbine length rifle that his uncle picked up while serving in Vietnam. The stock had been shortened a little, probably to accommodate Vietnamese soldiers. Anyway, the first time I fired his gun it “shivered me timbers” if you know what I mean. I probably fired 20 or more rounds from it then shot some handguns then decided to shoot my Garand. My shoulder was so sore the Garand was like torture. I fired a few clips and was done with rifles for the day.
