I have been watching High Plains Hud for several years. He is the CC around these parts who's been whuppin' the rest of us pretty consistently and by a stout margin. Why? Because he is smooth. He doesn't look "fast" until his time is read. What he does very well as a double duelist are his transitions. Very well done... almost natural. His hands are always doing something and he never wastes time. His movement on the stage is always done with purpose and never wasted. Find someone like I described and watch them carefully. They'll show you what needs to be done.

Last time I wore a tie it was a bolo tie with a cowboy hat. Kinda liked it.

Since about 2008, the white, Christian, heterosexual, employed American male has fallen into that same category of being marginalized. Where's my damn reparations? In the same time period law enforcement has been marginalized. Do they get reparations? I don't see reparations being paid as doing anything but creating more problems and conflict. That fanciful idea sure does buy votes though.

I have been dabbling in Gunfighter for a little over a year. Normally I shoot Classic Cowboy, so double duelist. On occasion while playing GF'r I have had to split pistols. I just do it. No big deal and no complaining. Double duelist...easy peezy. 😝 It's so simple even a caveman can do it!

Years ago when my brother was enrolled at UVA his roommate was from South Africa. And he was a white guy. The roommate was applying for financial aid and on the application he checked African American. African American apparently meant black to the college. But black American was not an option on the application. My brother's roommate pressed them on this and said he was indeed African American as he was born in South Africa. Legally, he was entitled to that financial aid. The financial aid office then threw a fit to which the roommate asked if they'd like to begin having this conversation with lawyers. Apparently they did not as the roommate got his financial aid and the next semester the financial aid application had been changed to reflect what the college really meant.

Since I was born in America does that make me a Native-American? Or is that reserved only for Senator Elizabeth Warren?

Just an observation... Brassing for the small 9mm case is going to be problematic at some venues depending on the ground. Rocky or grassy terrain hides brass quite effectively. Heck, a couple places where I shoot even seeing a 45 Colt case is difficult. Just don't expect much 9mm brass back.

Major Art Tillery aka Travis Cady left this world on January 13, 2025 at the age of 44. He was not only Classic Cowboy through and through but cowboy in life. Some of Major's SASS accomplishments were Classic Cowboy of the year in 2018, member of the Magnificent 7, Territorial Governor, Regulator, and founder of the Classic Cowboy showdown. Major Art Tillery was the kind of friend that makes everything in your own life better; the matches more exciting, the road trips smoother, the jokes funnier, planning the next adventure more exciting. His dedication to what he loved and whom he loved was second to none. Major could run a Henry 1860 better than anyone I have seen and that takes dedication. He loved the Henry 1860 and had made that his main match choice. Major was very proud of this. Honest, trustworthy, humble, hard working, principled, caring and selfless are all accurate descriptions of him in addition to him being a fun and fierce competitor in cowboy action. Knowing him and being able to share time and life with him was indeed priceless. He was a friend to all. He was loved by many and his passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who called him family and friend. Rest in Peace, brother. Until we get to ride together again...

45 Colt is a 14,000 psi and 45 acp is 23,000. But the cylinder is key here. A convertible will do that. I would not shoot 45 Colt 23K pressure loads through a Colt or Italian reproduction.

Well, if'n ya want to try some ya can't hardly go wrong with Buffalo Trace, Makers or Elijah Craig. All less than $35/bottle. If'n don't care for 'em you'll always find a cowboy at a match who would be happy to take them off'n yer hands. 😉

Agree 100%. I have been drinking bourbon for years and really can't tell much of a difference between a $30 bottle and a $50 bottle. Some difference, yes, but not enough for the price difference. Some of my favorites are priced at $27 and $44 per bottle. That said when the price (theoretically presuming quality) approaches $85 to $100 per bottle I do taste a difference. Quite a difference sometimes. Recently I did have an opportunity to taste a $250 bourbon. The words incredible and amazing don't begin to describe it. I will not be paying that much for bourbon ever unless I win the lotto so that was a treat. Scotch now... I do taste quite a difference between 12 year old and 18 year old.

When I hunted the .243 was a great choice for me. I took lots of coyotes and deer (white tails and mule deer) with that gun and one deerless afternoon, prairie dogs. Every now and then I'd change it up with a 30-30 lever gun. Nothing special but both worked quite well.
