I have a neighbor and friend who is going on 30 years in the Army currently. He has seen combat on several occasions and is a true Patriot and loves his country. He has 3 teenage boys and when asked if he would encourage his boys to enlist in the military today he says "no way in hell." That sums up a lot.

DVDs (going the way of the dodo) are usually available for sale used anywhere from $.50 apiece to $5 apiece in plenty of secondhand stores around town so I just buy what I want anymore. Most movies I do like to rewatch so it’s not a problem owning. Amazon to the rescue for hard to find DVDs that either are not streamed or are stupid high cost to rent on streaming.

Yes. DVD's can still be rented out of the Redbox machine. Looks like a Coke machine but spits out dvds. In my area we have them at pretty much every grocery store and drug store.

Yes, you can still rent videos but you rent them streaming. Usually get them for about a 24 hours.

Yeah... resurrecting a topic... I picked up a copy of the latest AH and read the article on the Black Bart commemorative. Great article! Loved it! (I had no idea you were part of this magazine... excellent job!) In fact, AH is full of good stuff. (I've never paid it much attention before... I know, I've been missing out). As an apparent former subscriber to Guns of the Old West I am excited to get my hands on a new to me hand-gunning magazine. I have tried for three days to get the online subscription page to work but there is some glitch not letting me go forward to pay. I'll check after the new year. I look forward to see what American Handgunner and GUNS have to offer. Cheers!

You might be disappointed. I've been to Dodge and been through Dodge on many occasions traveling. It's not so much an Old West town anymore as it is a beef packing town with the smell of money to go with it. Front Street in Dodge is smaller than you might think and even though I love the Old West Dodge doesn't have much appeal to me. Your time would probably be better spent looking at Old Tucson or Tombstone or Old Trail Town up around Cody, Wyoming. All these are on my to-do list as is Bodie, CA if'n I ever get that far West. Cowtown in Wichita is much larger than Front Street in Dodge. They put on events throughout the year which are quite fun and well done.

"Cowtown" in Wichita, KS is pretty good. Lots to see and do and is staffed with volunteers, entertainers and historians. It's an interactive living Old West town. However my favorites are real ghost towns... generally located in Colorado, many accessible by 4WD vehicle only. Some great towns there are Ashcroft, Animas Forks, Carson, the Bonanza townsite, Winfield and Vicksburg, and Tincup. (Active residences in Tincup and seasonal in Vicksburg). St Elmo and the surrounding area is also fascinating with a rich mining history combined with Jeep trails, camping, some seasonal tourism and plenty of ghost town stories and locals will say, a few ghosts. Plenty of remnants of towns throughout the Colorado Rockies that are mostly just mining structures, tailings and footings left but if you know the history they can be a ton of fun.

I work for a company that is entirely manufacturing based. For the hourly workpool we hire for operations and maintenance positions. The vast majority of whom we have working for us now are millennials. I have worked for over 30 years in the same environment and can say based on my personal observations that the laziest of all employees I've ever witnessed are indeed millennials but that does not mean that all of the millennials we have resemble that. Certainly we had some worthless Boomers and some worthless Gen Xers but also true is in much fewer numbers and with much less intensity at being worthless than what we see in today's millennials. Surprisingly and very refreshing are the newest generation of youth I'm witnessing in this particular plant site, the Gen Z folks who have all exhibited a high work ethic and a fascinating disdain for the generation ahead of them. And they're not quiet about telling the millennials to get off their lazy asses. And they are the only ones that can do that because HR will consider it harassment if any of us older folks say the same. How entirely messed up is that? My observation.

I'd vote for catching a fastball in the Jimmy.

If I want to shoot slower stages I will use a Henry. If I want to shoot faster stages I don't use a Henry. The Henry rifle is unique and an excellent choice with black powder but I only know of 1 or 2 guys who are really competitive with the Henry. They take a little bit of dedication to learn... not all that different from learning to run an '87 shotgun. But both can yield headaches.

Marlin 336. I have two of these, one old enough to not have the cross bolt safety and besides that, both great guns... cannot distinguish any difference between the two. Both of these are JMs. Not extolling the JMs, it's just what I have. I have recently seen and held a new Ruger-Marlin 30-30 and it was very, very nice. Happy shopping!

When I sent in my subscription renewal and the free gift offer I told them to bill me later as that was an option. (Something in the back of my brain told me not to write a check at that time.) The recipient of the free off has gotten a notification of his gift subscription but I have not been billed. Guess only time will tell.

It's been quite a while since I have seen new Stoeger double coach guns on the shelf. The local Sheels has 6 now. All 12 gauges. Two blued and 4 Supreme models... pricing at $450 blued and $520ish for Supreme. Not horrible I thought. Fit and finish was fine on all but typical stiff opening for a factory, new double. Just nice seeing these again.

Last I heard we have at least 5 cowboys interested in our newest supercool non SASS category that this match will offer. CCFCGF! Saddle up, pilgrims.
