  1. Smokestack's description is a 4 target array... what is the shooting order on 5 targets?

The way we shot it yesterday was first pistol double tap outside, three singles across targets 2, 3, 4 of the 5 targets. second pistol start on target 2, singles across targets 2, 3, 4 and double tap target 5. When you end you have put two rounds on each target, double tapping the outside targets. I don't know if it is gunfighter friendly. For me it was very enjoyable.

I am sure the sweep must be well known by a different name, but I can't recall shooting it before. It is very elegant if you think about it. It would appear to be very fast for a five target array. The match director slowed down the stage a tad by having us shoot 6 shotgun targets.

  2. Could be several reasons for that. Smaller diameter shell bodies/Very short shell length/Undersized rim diameter are a few. If it does'nt happen during live fire training then it's not an issue.

That is what I thought, but wasn't sure. My guess is the some of the metal snap cap rims are undersized. I have some dummy shells on the way from Brownells.

  3. I have been encountering a problem using Snap Cap shells during reload practice. I have a Stoeger that has been tuned by one of the better known shotgun gunsmiths. I say that to tell you that the cylinders and extractor have been honed and polished. Occasionally a shell will slide behind the extractor and block it from falling into place. The problem hasn't occurred using actual shells in a match, but I am afraid it might during a run. Anybody else have this problem using Snap Caps?

  4. If you are willing to spend $130 for 500 rounds check out Georgia Arms. There ammo is quality, reloadable and they market "cowboy ammo". Before I reloaded it is what I used. Good stuff.

Just in case you are wondering , you can't reload steel cases or the aluminum.

I don't have my reloading equipment down here in Florida. I have been using Georgia Arms 38 cowboy loads. I was a little concerned about overall length (seemed a tad too short for my rifle), but I haven't had a problem. I don't know what kind of primers they use but the have all gone bang. They seem to use range brass as there are any number of head stamps in the mix, but so far i haven't had any splits. I would recommend them for a new shooter or somebody like me who is separated from his reloading gear.

  5. Years of flying damages your hearing. Like many men who have spent a lot time around heavy engines, I lost the high pitch sounds so I wear hearing aids. After researching hearing loss I decided that the cheap soft ear plugs are most effective, if they are screwed in. Of course if they aren't the noise is deafening.

My brother in law suffered serious hearing loss shooting a 44 Magnum indoors without hearing protection. He didn't realize it would be so bad but it was. His ears still ring.
