  1. In the category of shoe modifications, FWIW, I follow a pair of brothers who are cobblers and do amazing things re-crafting shoes, boots, etc.  The reason I bring this up is they are in Columbia, not too awfully far away.  Maybe they can refit something for you.  Maybe not.  They go by Trenton and Heath on Farcebook.  I don't know if they can or will take you on.  It could be a licensing thing,  maybe.  Good luck.  Glad to hear things are moving in the right direction.

  2. Change is painful.  I don't care one way or the other.  I will use which ever is fastest.  I pump my own gas, I use an ATM, I use a kiosk at the airline check in.  Heck, I have to enter my own info in a computer to register a new purchase of a firearm.  I don't get a discount either.  I bagged groceries in high school.  I'd rather check myself out at the mart as I can bag my items better and faster than their clerk can. I'm one of those guys that will drag an errant shopping cart back into the store also.  I hated those people that would push their shopping carts out to their car and then just leave them because they didn't need help with their groceries.  Those were years before cart corrals were even thought of.  The manager would ride our butts if we didn't bring those carts back in the store.  What really threw me was going into McRonalds to place and order.  I had to use a machine but a live person brought the order out to me.  COVID really changed their business model.  Most people use the drive through. Like it or don't, the retailer's business model changed a lot because of the minimum wage issue and COVID.  Like I said, I don't have a dog in this fight but I can change with some training.  Learn something new everyday.

  3. I've had a couple of these over the years.  I tried a .357 set when I first started loading.  Never heard of case lube so I had to pound the case in  and pound it back out again.  Kind of turned me off on these until I figured out/learned that lubing the case would make it work a lot easier.  Picked one up for loading 12 gauge shells.  Just in case I need to bug out and need more shells along the way.  I have no idea where it is right now.  I need a 3 day advance notice if I have to bug out.

    Two inches.

    On March 25.

    In Arizona.

    Global warming my a$$!

Hey look!  Forty Rod is back.  And he is his usual cantankerous self.  We missed you 4T. Almost looked you up when I was EOT a couple weeks back.  Better luck next time.

I'm done with snow.  That Arizona weather spoiled me.  Been snowing off and one here in the land of sky blue waters for the last few days.  It goes between snow and rain.  We need the moisture but I have begun to dislike both.

  5. There is a fee for everything these days.  Taking art?  Art supply fee in addition to whatever other artistic thing you want to do.  Chorus?  Need to have matching outfits for the entire group, for each different theme they are performing.  Not to mention plays and musicals.  You have to supply your own costume.

Here locally, the wrestling team gets no support in the athletic budget so the team runs fund raisers all the time.  Mats are expensive, uniforms every few years, travel, etc.  But don't criticize the basketball team.  Beautiful hardwood floors with a practice court that the coach and Athletic Director preciously guard so you don't walk across it in street shoes of spill a drink on it.  Floors that are lovingly swept and oiled by the maintenance staff.  They get full funding in the budget.

They tried to cut the band and chorus programs all together.  Alpo is right, other than a sousaphone, tuba or drums, you supplied your own.  I played the trombone my mother used in high school.  It was near to an antique.  I learned later it was not a "cool" instrument to play unless you liked playing marches.

Drivers Ed used to be in the school curriculum but now it is user pay and done during non-school hours.

    It's all a racket.

  6. I drove past this hotel while at EOT. It is right off the interstate.  I stayed at the HI in Cave Creek which is about 15 miles from the Ben Avery. We felt really safe and protected.  I hope they get their equipment back.

Here’s what I don’t get. How does Jack Reacher maintain his level of physical conditioning riding Greyhound buses, hitch-hiking and eating bus stop and truck stop food?

    And Bull Sh** again!

    Gimme a break!

    You're just jealous.  :P

  8. I've had a passport since college.  Went on a trip of Europe with a group of students and had to have one for that.  Just kept it current over the years for business travel.  Need it for travel in and out of Canada (ya hey?) and Mexico these days.  Mom and I want to go visit my sis and BIL down under one of these days.  It is a good form of identification as well.
