  1. I'm old enough to remember party lines. When we moved to the new 'burbs back in '65, many had to share the same number for awhile because SW Bell didn't have enough to go around.
  2. At least once a month at the indoor range to keep proficient with my CC bottom feeder. It's also a great place to work on hand loads when I feel like experimenting.
  3. My dad's Navy sword has the star and looks just like this one. Stainless blade ca. 1950 http://picclick.ca/US-Navy-Ceremonial-Sword-Harry-L-Workman-Conqueror-371792137723.html#&gid=1&pid=8
  4. What innards are you referring to? And on what brand gun -- Colt, Para, Springfield etc?
  5. Mine shoots low too, but I've learned to compensate for it. Kinda bugs me that I have to do that. Since my Colt is basically an A1 with a flat housing, I've been toying with the idea of installing an arched one. Doesn't look that hard to do. I can always put the other one back if I don't like it, right?
  6. My Series 80 1911 has the flat mainspring housing. I've never handled an arched housing version. I know this issue is purely subjective, but what do you 1911 shooters from the Saloon prefer and why? Opinions from those who have virtual 1911s are welcome too.
  7. I like your style Doc, one of my favorite movies. Gotta say tho, Peter Falk's 'Max' is every bit as memorable to me. One could not have existed without the other. What a great duo. "Push the button, Max!"
  8. Watched the last qtr that way. Great game that went down to the wire. Go GB. BTW, no dog in the hunt, but Atlanta/Seattle was a great game too.
  9. Joe Buck... gag me...
  10. This has been my experience with hearing & aids (and wife), word for word. the only difference is mine are the ReSound brand with Bluetooth so I can adjust with my iPhone.
  11. Yup. I went for the first time last year. Picked up a really nice Garand for good price after seeing acres of overpriced ones. Lots of overpriced stuff and some junk, but if you're diligent, there are a handful of deals to be had. And if you need parts and accessories, this is the place to go.
  12. "Deeper than normal" is subjective. Without pics, it's hard to say. Adding on, how does the pistol function with the "deeper than normal" ring? Is there any other abnormal wear?
  13. I met a B-52 pilot while waiting for a turn to fly the B-2 simulator at Whiteman AFB. When showing our ID, I noticed he had a Caterpillar Club card in his wallet. Of course I had to ask how earned it. He said he was deadheading in a B-52 that suffered a catastrophic structural failure during refueling and broke up in flight. He was in the crew bay in the belly without an ejection seat, so he just found himself suddenly falling thru space. One of his strongest memories was that of having one of the engines remaining next to him while he fell until deploying his chute.
  14. I no longer have a prostate. If I take the palmetto tablets, I'm afraid it might reduce the size of something I can ill afford to have reduced.
  15. Stick with the Jamesons. Although it's not Irish, you already know about Basil Hayden... Gonna pick me up some Jameson and BH tomorrow. Merry Christmas my friend!
  16. I don't know about the others, but Josie who I've met, is very special...
  17. I used to be able to do that with photos I have on Google. Now the SASS wire says, "you are not allowed to use that image extension on this community."
  18. Had a chance to handle Bill's pistols. They feel great too.
  19. Chiefs is the correct spelling. But around this house, it's pronounced "sheefs" Ditto, Noz!
  20. try before you buy, as many as you can. +1 on what Widder said about the shotgun. Have fun and take your time!
  21. Hi Bart. Don't know what kind of bullet you're using, but guessing it's 200 gr since Hodgdon shows 4.5 as max load for 230s.

Regardless, you need a PF of 150 for wild bunch. To figure PF, multiply bullet weight by FPS and divide by 1,000.

You need at least 750 FPS with a 200 gr bullet to meet minimum PF for WB.

We have a chronograph at PCC if you eve...
