  1. Having just returned home to Australia I wanted to thank all those terrific people I met in the 5 weeks & 4 shoots we attended while on our 'Cowboy holiday...your hospitality & generousity is second to none & I will carry those fond memories forever.

Hell On Wheels [Wyoming] was fantastic as was the Kansas Prince of Pistoleers...E.O.T was an experience which I had to have but probably will not have again...Cortez was the ideal warm up before New Mexico.

Again thank you & best wishes to you all.

    Kind regards 'Painted Mohawk

  2. Howdy...I dress as Indian, not period correct but as a television Commanchero type..have a lot of fun & I figure there are lots of Cowboys so why not increase the other side.

In Australia this year we will have Indian & Cavalry posse's at our Regional titles.

Little River Scout & Diamond Kate who travel to the U.S.A. regularly dress fantastically as Indians.

I'm currently in Kansas for the State titles & we will shoot 3 more times before returning home...so 'ffin ya' see mee say hi .

  3. Howdy....I seem to have misplaced Chauncey Dewey's phone number & can't find 'Max Strain in the phone book..can someone help with a number.

Need to get our 'supplies so we can do some reloading..anyone have an idea as to how many shooters have registered ?

We will be out Thursday to say hi & have a peek.

Thanks for the offers of gun carts.

Had a look at Cabella's today & will see what else we can go look at before the shoot.

Sounds like quite a few will be staying at the super 8...

    Catch 'ya all soon...Mohawk

  4. Yep we snuck up on 'ya a day early...Gypsy & CTM shoot frontiersman, Cummo duellist & myself a 49er....is the Friday the earliest we can get into the range?

We are in rooms 109 & 111 at the Super 8...looking forward to meeting you all.

Any hints on some sight seeing would be appreciated.

    Regards 'Painted Mohawk

  8. Well our trip over to the good ole' U.S.A. is nearly upon us.

Just shot my last shoot in Australia last week-end & on June 5 we leave for Denver....myself [Painted Mohawk ] & 3 mates , Cummo, Gypsy & CTM are coming over for 31 days..we will shoot the 'Prince of Pistoleers in Kansas, revenge in Cortez, EoT, & Hell On Wheels in Cheyenne.

Approx 30 Aussies are doing the trip this year for EoT .....so 'iffin ya' see 4 of them with big grins on their faces then that will be us.

    Regards Mohawk

  10. I use a 200 RNFP bullet with a low medium charge of Trail Boss from the chart published by Hodgdon.

Other powders work well, but 45 LC cowboy rounds is why TB was invented.

Yep 'gotta' agree with Bart there [FWIW ]..................

  11. I shot clay targets in most of the different disciplines for 30 years, great sport but you 'gotta shoot possibles no matter what grade your in & then there's the shoot off..just gradually lost interest & but probably more likely the 'competitive edge...started 'cowboy 4 years ago & absolutely look forward to every shoot..still bust the clays maybe twice a year.

The things I like most are everyone can choose how they want to compete..as in fast, slow, clean matches, black or smokeless, dress up to the hilt, .45 or .38 ...yep there's a way there for everyone !

And the people..well I don't think there is any better.

Different clubs , different stages, the list goes on....

Luv it that much that in only 12 weeks now some mates & I will be coming over for a month of shooting...so I'd say the bug has well & truly bitten me !

  12. Different folks shoot .45s for different reasons.

I am one of the few who shoots .45s, but competes with the fast guys shooting .38s. You can do it, but not with heavy loads.

I shoot a 200 gn bullet at 600 fps out of my pistols. My wife (a tall, thin lady) has no trouble with these loads. These rounds knock everything down. One load for everything in every match.

    -tex fiddler

Hi Tex.....Interested to know what powder you use.

  13. Howdy

Just for interest sake have a look at who's coming to the Revenge shoot at Cortez.

I know it's not till June but already it's filling up with overseas coboys/gals & a few Injuns...can't wait 'meself

  14. Well done Buckshot & if you get the missus shooting ,well that's a bonus.

Actually I envy those couples that shoot together & share a common interest, sure beats being told 'you shoot to much !!

Lots of enjoyment to be had & geat friendships to be made...go for it .

  15. And a special greeting to you down under! What's the weather like Mohawk?

    I bet it's warm! :FlagAm:

Howdy Paniolo.....Weather is fine & warm [we are spoilt].....but in saying that there has been heaps of rain lately & east coast of Australia has severe flooding & cyclones look to be building,we are lucky as about 200mile from coast & live in the 'bush , so far so good....as we are ahead in time it is now Xmas morning...enjoy yours when it comes around.

    ho..ho.ho... to everyone

  16. Some good advice has been given...open chokes are fine., yes for the bead & all I can add is ..'have fun .

Shotgun is the most important for loading as most times it's the only one done under the clock...for myself practise is important to hopefully be a bit slicker!
