Put a owl or hawk profile on the window cut out of a piece of brown construction paper, better yet put three or four out. -

Smile with your eyes. Of course protective eyewear doesn't help when you try to do that

I tipped my hat to Mrs. Ward and rode close to Doc. "Doc, don't give him even the scent of a chance, kill him hard and bury him deep, face down and put this through his heart and leave it there." I pulled a long arkansas toothpick from my saddle bag and handed it to him. Doc gave me an odd look "Something more I need to know about this fellow? I nodded softly "In '67 I saw him shot three times in the chest, he rode away. In late 68 I saw him shot twice with the same result." Doc frowned "You sure you're not wrong on this?" "I'm not wrong, I have a thought. You ever hear of a fellow named Deacon Jim or Killer Miller? He's been known to wear a steel plate under his shirt. When you find Harris Austin, you put one through his head on your first shot." I pulled my Sharps, scabbard and all and a box of ammo "If you are smart, you'll do if from as far away as you can."

I rode next to Linn Keller for a bit scanning the terrain cautiously. "J. Mark, not that I fault you for it, but why don't you want to ride on this Harris Austin fellow? I know it sure isn't fear." I chuckled, careful to keep my eyes on the surroundings. "That, Linn is not quite accurate. I'm afraid I would kill him." He creased his brow "No offense, but you've killed enough men to make me wonder about that. Care to explain?" "Well Linn, no reason not to I suppose, he is, or was my brother in law for a time." Linn broke his attention from scanning the road ahead. "Didn't know you were married." I smiled "A few times depending on your definitions, it has never ended well. After the war I spent some time in the nations. Married a Chickasaw girl and was content for a time. Austin Harris was married to her sister. We were of a tribe, I suppose. He's a number of years younger than I. He's good with his guns and he is prone to being reckless-back in the day though he wasn't a murderous bastard. Guess he learned some of that from me." Linn nodded "So what happened?" I frowned at the question "The Chickasaw don't speak of dead people, but I'll leave it at childbirth was too much for her. Harris helped with the burial. I can't hunt him." "Sorry to bring it up." he replied and I shrugged "There are good memories to go with the bad." and I tried to smile and remember one-neither attempt was truly successful.

"I think I know who this Murphy fellow is, and his name isn't Murphy. It's Harris Austin. He spent some time in the Chickasaw Nations. the description fits him perfectly." I offered. I adjusted the gear on my saddle. "Good luck and when you put him down, empty your gun he's a tough one. I'm gonna have to pass on this one. I swung up into the saddle and waited

In the south we didn't often get snow, but when we did it was time to go driving! Had a lot of fun on low friction surfaces. In warmer weather we found more interesting challenges, like water skiing in a ditch, towed behind a car. I've climbed down a 25-30 ft waterfall without a rope, and back up (that was fun ) and I've cliff dived into several lakes and even skied and swam in the Mississippi River near downtown Memphis I've ridden dirt bikes through dirt. mud, water, buildings, stairs and even a fair amount of air (enough to snap 2 frames on landing) But the dumbest??? Power diving in Heber Springs If you aren't familiar, it is when you take a ski rope, a snorkel set and flippers and use the boat to pull you down quickly to about 20 feet below the surface and swim around for a few seconds before heading to the surface. . . it is a unique experience and can easily kill you if you don't know your limits. and then I grew up and learned that I may not be immortal.

Slim and I rode point ready to find any sign and halt the group before the trail might be obscured. I slowed and signaled as we were still a quarter mile out. "I'd suggest Slim rides a loop around the range. I'll go to the house on foot." Slim frowned "That's a two plus mile loop, wouldn't we be better off to go in opposite directions and meet in the middle?" I nodded. "Possibly, but time isn't on our side and I need to see the scene in good light."

I had just loaded my horses onto the train when Lucas came running up. "Col Flint: he shouted as I stepped up onto the train. I turned and stepped down. "Deputy, what can I do for you?" He caught his breath and told me Doc was shot and Abagail was missing. I turned and headed to the stock car, "Help me get my horses Lucas, no time to waste." In a moment the two chestnuts were off the train and I was tightening the cinch on Thunder's saddle as Lucas led Lightning towards the Sheriff's office. We tied up to the hitching post and I thanked him as I stepped inside the office. "UB, your Deputy told me there was trouble. What can I do?" UB looked at me and gave me an outline of what was going on. "UB I can track as well as most indians, but I'll do whatever you need."

I voted yesterday. I too felt proud to see the turnout of voters, even those I suspect are voting for a different candidate. Vote as if your freedom depends upon your vote, because it does! -

Acraglass dries harder and stronger than JB weld. I've seen it hold parts togther pretty darn well. Still, if I were to make the repair it would be with a welder, but absent that fill the hole with brazing rod and redrill and tap would be my second choice. I may be hard to drill a perfect hole freehand, but the frame can be mounted in a vice and a drill press, it just takes time to set it up properly.

Hit it with some Prussian blue machinists ink and let it dry. It'll discolor and fade and wipe off over time, but you can always do it again.

I took a scattergun from the Sherriff's rack with an approving nod from UB and slipped a third colt in my waistband. "I'll come in the back." I mounted my horse and headed for the edge of town, dropping off out of sight to make my way to the back of the saloon.

They gave me percocets, but they don't do a lot as they are the smallest dose. I am at home as it was outpatient, but it was fairly invasive for outpatient. I should be 100% of 50% sometime in the future. -
I survived my surgery, I am told everything went well. My pain is significant but not intolerable. I'll update in a day or two. If you don't care, send me you address and I'll send dead flowers If that's not funny I blame the anesthesia

Gun Room Input
J. Mark Flint #31954 LIFE replied to Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
I have two words of advice Sally port -
"Doc, where would you put a sniper to provide cover for those who might be in the house?" I asked. He looked at me and scanned the area again "You think this is a set up?" Doc asked "I do." I said simply as I slid my sharps out of the scabbard and grabbed a bandoleer of the .44-77 cartridges. Doc looked at me worriedly, "Don't get ahead of yourself, Burcher and his men will be here soon." I nodded "I know, and likely so does Hammond. In his position I'd be laying in wait and take them on before they got here. I'm going to head back and check the road and make sure I'm wrong or be ready to join in if I'm right." Linn frowned "Burcher knows better than to ride into an ambush." I nodded in agreement "I'm sure he does, but nonetheless I'm going to scout the high ground and see if I can find anything. If not I'll be back when they arrive." Linn shook his head "No talking you out of this?" "You know better than that." I replied He shrugged and looked at Doc Ward "Doc, you want I should go with him?" Doc Ward looked at each of us "No, if Mark wants to find a vantage point to cover the road in, he'll be better off alone. Mark, if you find trouble waiting, don't take it on alone." "Doc, I can still hit a man farther than most snipers. If I start shooting I won't stay in one place long. Good judgment comes from bad experiences, and I've been through enough of those."

How about "junkers" cars

I think it was probably the 1980 Citation I owned for a couple of years, real turd. Replaced it with a Chrysler Laser- another tremendous turd, not sure which was worse. Then again, it might have been my 98 explorer, but it only started falling apart after the divorce and the ex had it, so I will always remember it fondly -
