Palewolf - fiction, novel. Took out a home invader in his front doorway, they went through and through, and into his truck. Book said he had the holes repaired, and it just got me to thinking, "How would be the best way to do that?" Y'all know (or you should by now) my mind tends to wander to strange and wonderous places.

My brother texted me this morning. https://vimeo.com/17820456 Said to look at the first few minutes and see if anyone looked familiar. This is a 40 minute interview with a WW2 sailor who served on a seaplane tender - the Norton Sound - in the Pacific. The thing starts with some old photos. Him in his uniform, him and his wife, and some of the ship. This guy was an AD - Aviation Machinist Mate. An airedale. About 26 seconds in is a group shot. Got an officer in front row center, wearing khakis and a fore-and-aft cap. To his left is a Chief in a round hat. To the Chief's left is a sailor, and to that sailor's left is my father. Funny. I learned more about what Daddy did, listening to that interview than I ever knew. Daddy never talked about the war.

The scenario: AR15. Three shots. Pickup truck downrange. Into left outer bedwall, out of left inner bedwall, into right inner bedwall. So there you got it. Nine holes in the bed. I can think of several fixes, ranging from bondoing the holes to cutting out a chunk of holey panel and TIGging in new metal, to an entire new bed. How would you fix it?

Help me figure this out (another ALPOISM)

When you're approaching, the smell is still, in a bubble around the skunk. You don't smell it 'cause you're not there yet. As you pass it, your slipstream grabs it and pulls it along with you. -
Believe what you wish.

>Length of the barrel does not matter, under 26''OAL, no stock = pistol , shoulder stock any barrel length = rifle< Rifle barrel has to be 16" or longer. Really. It does. Look it up. You put a shoulder stock on a pistol with a barrel shorter than 16" and you have committed a federal felony good for ten years in Club Fed and a quarter-million dollar fine. But if it makes you happy, go ahead and put a stock on your 4 3/4" SAA. It's your life.

I'm aware that TC sued and won, but I think the ruling only applies to TC. Kinda like - MY (hypothetical) Winchester 92 sn 12345, with a 12" barrel is NOT nfa, but that does not mean YOUR 12" 92 also isn't. It has to be on the list. ATF makes up their own rules as they go along. And the Uberti has a 16" barrel, so it doesn't matter whether it has a stock or not.

This was a response to Noz. AGAIN I didn't realize we'd turned the page. I wonder how many of the folks complaining about that (and there are bunches) actually SAW the movie, or if they all just saw the previews. The people doing that had extraordinary mental abilities, and were using the power of their brain to cause the bullet to curve around things (similar to Magneto in the X-men movies). The "swinging the arm" was to help them visualize the bullet path.

If it came with a buttstock, it's a shotgun, and taking the barrel under 18" is NFA. If it came with a pistol grip, it was not a shotgun, and you could shorten it. But if you put a buttstock on it, you turned it into a shotgun, and shortening the barrel would require NFA.

Oh heck, I quit Facebook two weeks after I joined it. I had my page set to private (pretty sure default was public), and a week after I joined they did a software upgrade, and whaddaya know? My page was public again. So I told 'em I wanted out. They said they'd, basically, put me in inactive storage, just in case I changed my mind - would not have to re-register. Said they'd only keep me in inactive for a short while - couple of weeks, or maybe it was a couple of months - and if I had not reactivated it they'd delete it. This has been 6 years or more. I bet they still got it - in cold storage, maybe, but still got it.

Several years back I'm visiting Hazel's family, and many pictures were taken. I asked for copies (how hard is it to email digital pix, or since I was there, burn 'em to a CD). Her hubby says they will pit them on Facebook. That will allow ALL the family to see them. So I join Facebook. The day after I joined I received emails from people I know, wanting to "friend" me. How did they know I'd joined? 'Cause the only one I told was Hazel. "Okay, I joined. Now what do I have to do to see the pix?" So how did these other folks know I was a member?

While the normal "hunting bullet" weight for a 35 Remington is either a 180 or 200 grain bullet, many people load 158 grain pistol bullets in them for plinking, or shoet range. An actual jacketed 35 Remington bullet is about a quarter each. Compare that to a cast 158 RNFP for what - 8 cents if you buy it or 2 if you pour it? BIG savings.

It's not an SBS the same reason a Rossi Ranchhand is not an SBR. It did not start out as a shotgun (or rifle) so it's not a shortened shotgun (or rifle).

Fun. The intended purpose is fun. It's like buying a Ferrari or a Lotus. Idiotic car, when you think about it, but fun to own. I wanted one of these, ever since I saw El Dorado. Once I got it I found that it was difficult to shoot well and had no legitimate use, but I still like it and am glad I own it. But it's not a hunting gun or a defense gun. It's a toy.

That IS the "right pistol grip", for a couple of reasons. With a "stick down at the bottom" grip, like this the recoil goes to your thumb and your wrist. Been there, done that, hurts. With this type grip, the recoil is pushed up your arm. The elbow and shoulder both pivot easily to accept it. Doesn't hurt. Second reason: with a "hang down below" grip you cannot reach the safety, which is on top of the receiver. With this grip the safety is right at your thumb. Third (and best) reason: the gun must be 26" or greater OAL or it needs to be papered. With a "hang down below" grip it would be about 22", requiring AOW paperwork.

I thought, during the Big Fuss, the Yankees used friction igniters.

Grease I would have gotten. Tar, to me, means asphalt, which sets up hard. Not helpful for greasing wheels.
-
What would the tar be for? Thinl I understand the rest of the list.

John Wayne, in ANY movie, getting shot and saying, "It's just a flesh wound"? Book I'm reading, guy one gets shot in the butt, guy two is trying to be caring and concerned, and guy one says, "Really, it's just a flesh wound". Guy two tells him he needs to try to say that like John Wayne. And I couldn't think of any movie where Duke said that. Anyone?

I carry a Cold Steel City Stick. 39" of 3/4" fiberglass with a half pound stainless steel head. I don't think our hero woulda broke one of them.
