  1. OK OK OK I am a Happy Camper...  I put some of my CLAYS powder in a quart Mason jar with rubber seal and 15 desiccant packs for two weeks shaking up each day, then repeated for another week...  Today took the powder into my Mec Jr and loaded six shells for trial - ALL WENT BANG...  So i thing this process will allow me to recapture my six pounds of CLAYS powder from around 2015 or so... Boy am i Happy..

Now i will do the same with my TRAIL BOSS and keep you'all posted....

Thanks for all the suggestions and support, Arrow Wood

  2. Arrow Wood here.. and thanks for all the thoughts. I will try the desiccant packs with a sample 1 pound container of each and see how that does... will keep everyone posted after a few weeks of effort... thanks again, Arrow Woos
  3. Hello all SASS Members. I stopped shooting SASS in 2016 and am now getting back into action. When I left, I had eight pounds of TRAIL BOSS and five pounds of CLAYS collected up. All were stored in a storage box , rarely opened, but open to nature via two small vents. I did not seal any containers with Vaseline as I do with glue, nor did I seal the containers in zip-lock bags – big mistake. Now I find that they cannot make my guns go BANG… My Black Powder friends use a dehumidifier to extract moisture from black powder and this works for them, but not sure about smokeless. Research suggests the use of ‘MOLECULAR SIEVE’ granules but haven’t started to use as yet. Does any have any thoughts about how I might recover these powder groups and is recovery even possible to make a BANG again? Thank you, Arrow Wood
  4. Hoping that this price holds thru January, as i'll call mid-week with an order... Arrow Wood
  5. I'm just getting back into SASS shooting after several years in the barn. Unfortunately i have about 4 pounds of Trail Boss that picked up moisture while in storage and it will not drop thru my LEE turret press loading system... dang dang... So i've turned to my other old standby UNIQUE only to find it just not available anywhere i've searched. An article in The American Rifleman of July 1923 spoke of using Bullseye, so that's my next search but was wondering if any other shooters might have suggestions about a powder that might be more available on the current market?? Hodgdon Universal?? BE86?? Titegroup?? What say you??
  6. so may be in fill leathers, and i have the long hair and beard and mustache and several claw necklaces... o what fun
  7. I am restarting my SASS involvement after eight years and will be shooting in the El patron category. I have been doing Mountain Man activities during these past eight years and would like to dress in full leathers and shoot in this category. I see what the manual says "clothing must be typical of the late 19th century, a B WEestern movie, or Western television series." but believe that mountain man attire did reach these genres... What say you?? Second question: i will be shooting in the El patron category and want to shoot 32-20 caliber pistols and rifle. is this ok? What say you? Than you
