  1. Pogo, The Wizard of Id, and BC in that order. I also enjoyed Li’l Abner! Some of the finest satire ever!! Never had Silly Putty. I don’t know why.
  2. When and if it ever snows enough for the plows to get out around here, they only plow the interstate highways and major thoroughfares. Ain’t NEVER seen a plow on our street!
  3. Pretty song with a great arrangement and harmonies! Great band!
  4. It’s finally turning winter here!! They were emptying the dairy and bread shelves at Wallyworld last night!!
  5. Thankfully, they only get two senate seats!!
  6. My first official car was a ‘63 Falcon Futura 4door. I gave $35.00 for it and had to do a valve job on it. I wouldn’t have bought it, but my dad took my cash and brought it home. He didn’t want me to drive the MG, so he put me in that tub. A neighbor kid stole and wrecked it. I took the engine and transmission out and stuck ‘em in a ‘61 2door. Drove it for about six months and had to put two clutches in it. A buddy of mine wrecked his ‘57 Chevy and we swapped the V8 out of it into the Falcon! We painted a light bulb on the hood with “FORD’S BETTER IDEA! CHEVY POWER!!” I sold it to a guy that I worked with and bought myself a ‘66 Chevy II 2door hardtop! Been a Chevy man ever since!!
  7. Getting back to the OP!! The things that we saw and learned as “Baby Boomers” and grew up taking for granted have begun to disappear from day to day life and unlike we children of the postwar, today’s children and young adults mostly have no interest in learning of or remembering those things! Many of them don’t even bother to recall the landmark items and occurrences of their own recent past the way lots of us do, much less attempt to learn of or preserve the knowledge, icons, and experiences of those who preceded them. They’re often amazed at some of the things that they learn, or at least hear of, that we and our parents and grandparents did or had to do sometimes in order to just get through the day, much less what we/they did without. Half of them weren’t even born the last time a man walked on the moon! Not counting electronics and medical advances, they just haven’t seen the kinds of changes that we have seen, never mind the things our parents saw!! To my mind, it’s a shame that they missed out on so much!
  8. Surprisingly, the incident wasn’t even mentioned in classes in Tennessee schools when I attended!! I learned about it from some biker friends who were members of the Outlaws MC after I got out of school. They were talking about it one night in a club down in Nashville where a band I hung out with was playing.
  9. I learned to drive in an MGA! 4 on the Floor. Took driver’s ed in a ‘69 Impala because it would cut my insurance premiums. It was automatic and I did donuts in the high school parking lot with it after I got my grade. Started out on motorcycles at 14 1/2 and got my provisional license so I could get back and forth to work. My dad refused to let me have a motorcycle of my own because he thought my mom would worry too much. By the time I graduated high school, my dad had me driving anything with wheels.
  10. Love ta’ listen to this gal! Not so fond of some of her politics, but the lady can belt out a tune…
