  1. A better day, today!!

At my annual eye exam today, I was really surprised!

No change in my prescription, (I use readers for that and small, fine work) I had no issues with my diabetes, and my vision is still really good for all the years and abuse.  The little gal that did all of the preliminaries was stunned by my 20-15 vision.  My eye doctor said that I was doing very well. I ordered a new set of spectacles and was on my way.

While I was being examined, Schoolmarm figured our taxes and filed them. We’ll get a modest refund.

  2. I have two CodyMatics, a 24” ‘66 rifle in .45 Colt that I bought used and one of the old Navy Arms “.38 only” ‘66 carbines the I had done for Schoolmarm a few years ago!

Both are smooth and reliable. The .45 has survived fourteen years of use and abuse by my son, Hatfield and by me with thousands of rounds through it in every kind of weather and with smokeless and Black Powder both!!

Those old Navy Arms carbines were known for being finicky about ammo and difficult to make go fast.  This one works extremely well and is very smooth.

  3. Most heat pumps work fairly well down mid 20s. I learned this when we went to heat pumps on our show busses a couple decades ago.  In extremely cold weather, they don’t work well without an “emergency heat” element that is included in most heat pumps sold in the northern regions.

The emergency heat circuit is often an automatic feature on some newer models. It is actually an electric heating element installed in the unit, somewhere in the discharge air side of the unit.

  4. The adjustable choke was original to the gun.  It can be opened to cylinder configuration, but I think that it would have to be cut off to remove it.

I have seen them go for as much as $375.00, but most good examples go for from $175.00 to $225.00.  I figure $200.00 is a fair price. It ain’t a 95%er, but it’s a right nice old gun.

If your FFL will accept it from an individual, shipping will be the cost of postage. Plastic case included.

  5. Not the best news from the doctor this morning!!

While the most part of the incision has healed well, there are two small sections that had scabbed over, but the skin has not grown in under it.

The doctor debrieded the skin around the incision and packed it with collagen then reclosed the incision with steri-strips.

Reckon this will set me back about walking a little while longer.

The good news is that, overall, it’s still trying to heal up and fill in, there’s no sign of infection, and all of the original swelling is completely gone.

The best news is that Schoolmarm and I got to visit our favorite Italian restaurant and market when we left the doctor’s office.  They treated us like we were long lost family that were loved and missed!!

Our server and good friend treated Schoolmarm to free wine and me to some of the best New York style cheesecake I’ve had anywhere!!  AND!! We picked up some great Italian delectables to take home too!!
