Pat!! Schoolmarm’s kidney doctor told her to NEVER take another Metformin pill!! My diabetes specialist told me that she wouldn’t prescribe it to anyone, EVER! I know a dozen others who have had trouble with the drug and quit taking it in favor of another medication. Metformin is inexpensive! That is the only reason I can think of for using it and my health is worth a lot more than a few bucks! Disclaimer!!: To the best of my knowledge, all diabetic medications are hard on the kidneys. My doctors have me checked REGULARLY for kidney function!! I go and get checked every three months, RELIGIOUSLY!! Pat, I highly recommend that you do the same!!! That goes for all the rest of you diabetics and pre-diabetics!!

Gas prices went up in many places along the interstate here in the Nashville area!! Schoolmarm and I went back toward Nashville to have lunch with some friends today. The nearest place to see the eclipse to us is Paducah, KY, about a hundred miles from our house and traffic was nearly at a standstill going Northwest on I-24 when we came back to the house!! I got off the highway at exit 31, the exit before my home exit, still inside Metro Nashville!! That’s more than a hundred miles from Paducah. No evidence of any accident or road construction for at least thirty-five miles!!

I ordered some parts from an outfit just south of Cleveland, Ohio for a truck that Hatfield is working on. That was Thursday afternoon around 2:30 CST. The order arrived at my mailbox before lunchtime today! USPS Priority Envelope. Was going to take a week via UPS. Around here, we call ‘em OOPS! We don’t call FedEx at all!!

Many of us here in Tennessee have pushed for this for a long time!! My wife, being a teacher for thirty+ years, was basically subject to the whim of any nut job that decided that they would shoot up the school the whole time she was there!! Thankfully, it never happened! We worked to get resource officers into all of our county schools, but only managed to get them in on a part time basis. Our local law enforcement added random patrols of the schools that coordinated county, city, and state patrol vehicles and officers to check in and make their presence a visible addition to school safety efforts. The local sheriff is a family friend and he openly encourages personal carry! Our state representative and senator are both on board with the new legislation!! I will be proud and thankful for Tennessee to take the lead in school safety with the passage of this legislation!!

The home health nurse was pleased with the progress. Nothing on the bandage and the stitches are holding without the aid of steri-strips. I have started seeking footwear options in earnest! That’s gonna’ take some work!
