  1. Thinkin' they are probably Winchesters...
  2. Gonna get all sorts of suggestions.. I shoot 38's with lightened hammer springs in my Vaquero's.. I started with Winchester Small Pistol about 13 years ago.. Never a fail to fire.. Switched to Federal about 4-5 years ago.. Never a fail to fire.. About 5-6 years ago we had a primer shortage.. Only thing I could get was Remington small pistol.... HAD some fail to fire.. Rance. Thinkin' everybody's mileage will vary.
  3. If it were mine..I'd take the side plate off.. Remove the loading gate.. Reinforce the brand new one in your brand new rifle with some JB Weld.. Won't need to worry about screw size.. Or worry about the tab bending or breaking off... With 66's... It's not IF the tab breaks off or bends.. But when... Rance Thinkin I've went the "stronger reinforced " route... Use to carry 2-3 spares with me until I reinforced one.. No problem since.
  4. Greatest news this ol wire has had in a long time... Rance
  5. I shoot Ruger Vaquero's with lightened springs.. And '66 and '73 rifles.. With short strokes.. I started back in 2003 using Winchester small pistol primers..I shoot 38's.. No missfires.. I started the treck of switching to Federal.. A few years back... No missfires.. When the the primer shortage came through a few years back the only small pistol primer I could find were Remington... Started having missfires.. All the guns were the same.. Springs got weaker with age to allow missfires you think?? Don't think so.. Finally found some Winchester small primers again and they all went bang again.. Rance Thinkin this ain't scientific... Just my experience...
  6. News we didn't want ta hear.. Prayers up.. Rance n Lacey
  7. Prayers are up fer ya Bandit.. Rance n' Lacey
  8. Trader Dave will be missed.. He and his shooting partner/ wife Ragen Rajean were in this sport when I first got started.. Loved shooting on their posse.. Always fun.. I always looked up to them and loved their sense of humor and laughter.. Prayers up for Rajean and their family.. Lord... Ya got a good one here.. Rance & Lacey Corsette
  9. A feller named Second Chance.. He provided guns, leather and ammo for my first few matches.. That was in the fall towards the end of our season in Illinois.. He taught me reloading over the winter.. I jumped in with both feet.. By next Spring.. I had my guns, leather, clothes, reloading equipment and supplies.. That was about 13 or 14 years ago.. Rance Thinkin that was an expensive winter..
  10. Our local club for monthly's? We have a couple of restraurants about 3 miles away (in town) that can handle our group of shooters.. We try to notify them ahead of time.. We invite every shooter at our shooters meeting to join us there after our match is done.. Great fellowship and Uuuhhhh... Lies?? Eeerrrr Uuuuuhhh... .stories... About why their match went the way it did.. Rance. Thinkin just the way we do it..
  11. I think you should contact Johnny Meadows personally.. Ask him questions and let him ask you questions.. If I was in your position... I'd probably go with SKB200.. If my memory serves me it has a beaver tail forearm.. I think the SKB100 has the thin (splinter??) forearm.. Ain't real sure.. Me.. I'd have him set it up with double mechanical triggers .. I started with and I'm still shooting A (meaning 1) Stoeger SxS double trigger.. Maybe 13-14 years... But I'm still told they're junk.. Who knew.. Rance Thinkin he won't steer ya wrong..
  12. PaPa Dave... a fellow shooter up here in central Illinois is wanting work done on his Balkai shotgun.. He wants you to call him and he can tell you what he wants done.. His name is Bill Fillman aka Fillmore.. his phone # 309-368-9755.. I was trying to talk him through getting signed up for the SASS wire but not havin' much luck at this time..Please give him a call

    Thanks
