New double trigger Stoeger

Johnny, years ago after Larsen's article came out, I swapped the triggers on an old Stoeger I had at the time, do you think it can still be done one these new ones? Thanks Randy -
All of my lever action ‘73’s for CAS have under a 3lb trigger, my main match rifle has an under 2lb trigger. I like a light trigger pull but you won’t find that on a factory stock rifle. Shotgun Boogie trigger has adjustable trigger pull (sear engagement) the #2 is what’s in my rifle. https://sbgwllc.com/shop/uberti-73-trigger-kit-version-2/ Randy

There are several good Cowboy Gunsmiths that sell a ‘73 already slicked up and ready to go. Randy

I came to CAS from Bullseye Pistol and after looking at my .45 wad gun for about a year I sold it for enough to buy a new cowboy ready 1873 Deluxe Short Rifle. In 19 years I haven't regretted it. Randy -
WTC: Rifle not last / avoiding a P
Randy Saint Eagle, SASS # 64903 replied to Abilene, SASS # 27489's topic in SASS Wire
I am anxious to see PaleWolf's take on this. I looked at the definitions in the SHB and Sweep is not listed. Since the instructions say rifle not last and if you had finished the sweep correctly after shooting the rifle I think you would have been ok. I don't see any instructions requiring the pistols to be shot back to back, I know if it had pistol instructions that didn't call for a Sweep it would be fine. Randy -

With a little time, a Dremel tool, a very small sanding drum and a Cratex drum you can make it load a little easier. Randy -
I’m pretty sure you’ll have trouble in any modern single action revolver.🤠Randy

As many have said the Uberti will be much easier to get parts for should any be needed. Large rifle primers are not interchangeable with large pistol primers. They are taller and will not typically seat flush. (Don’t ask how I know this?)🤠🤔 Randy

There's a lot of talk about how expensive it is to get started in Cowboy Action Shooting and it can be very expensive if you start with the best of everything. Not everyone can afford to buy once and cry once. Not everyone has their sights set on winning the World Championship. Years ago I started on the cheap and after buying one of the new Stoegers recently I decided to see if it was still possible. First find a club in your area and talk to everyone you can about what you need and see if anyone has anything you can buy cheap!. When I started I bought a box of holsters and belts for $75 from a Cowboy getting out of the sport. They were cheap but they got me started and I was able to trade 2 of the holsters for a old guncart to a Cowboy who had upgraded. I have no affiliation with Bud's Guns but I searched their website for a Rossi '92 and found this. $523 https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/122638/rossi+r92+.357+magnum+24+blued+octagon+barrel+hardwood+stock+12+1 I searched Sportsman's Warehouse and found the Stoeger SxS $299 https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/shotguns/stoeger-coach-12-gauge-3in-matte-black-side-by-side-shotgun-20in/p/1906621 A friend had a new Pietta Revolver last Saturday, he said it was a little stiff but shot well $397 ea. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/723020133/pietta+1873+limited+edition+.357+magnum+4+3+4 This will get all 4 needed guns for $1616 + tax and transfers if needed. For another $400 you can get a SASS Mernickle Starter Rig. https://mernickleholsters.com/products/official-sassâ„¢-starter-kit All of the guns could use some smoothing up and much of it can be done if you are fairly handy. Someone could get all the guns and rig to get started for less than the price of a tricked out and race ready SKB. You might eventually upgrade all the guns, but you can never have too many guns! I'm sure many will dispute this Idea but it would get someone started fairly inexpensively. Randy

Due to the fact that the targets have gotten bigger and closer over the years I think I point shoot a lot more than I should. I do know that 99% of the time when I miss a pistol target I can't remember seeing the front sight. Point shooting will also bite you when shooting Texas Star, small knockdown targets and when travel somewhere that has smaller targets farther out. Randy

They were $249 at Academy Sports ($275 OTD) when I got mine. I think there were a few listed cheaper but I’d have had to pay shipping and transfer fee. If I find them that cheap again locally I’ll get another!🤠Randy -

I agree, at a $299 list price at Academy Sports and Sportsman's Warehouse it will let new folks get into a shotgun. A friend had got one of these and shot it for the first time last Saturday and said it shot fine. With these you could get into 2 revolvers for $800, now your at $1100 for 3 of the 4 guns you need. Before everyone jumps on me for inexpensive guns I'm just saying this is a good way for someone to get into the sport on a limited budget. Some folks cannot afford to buy once and cry once. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/723020133/pietta+1873+limited+edition+.357+magnum+4+3+4 Randy -

I don't know but a friend had one of these today at our match. Shot it for the first time and it shot good. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/723020158/pietta+1873 The price is right! Randy -

Haven’t used it in a match just went to the range to check it out. We’re a dedicated Cowboy Range so we always have stages set up that we can shoot anytime.ðŸ¤
